News Forum Wikia and COPPA - Anonymous Editing Off    Malkin    Manager     7/6/2013 The United States' Federal Trade Commission has updated The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, a federal law designed to limit the collection of personal information from people younger than 13 years of age. Wikia has decided to comply with it by disabling anonymous editing on the Creatures Wiki. To edit the Creatures Wiki, it is now necessary to sign up to Wikia and agree to their updated Terms of Use, which require that you be over 13. It makes it harder to troll, and makes the edits more reliable. I wonder how that'll affect other sites that allow anonymity. (I mean, the ones I'm thinking of aren't directed at children at all and already have an over-13 requirement to sign up or a warning before viewing, but... idk. I'm just vaguely uncomfortable. With the law, that is, not Wikia.)
