Sort of a development topic, what are some of the thread's forays into Ecological Transplantation.
You know, when you get a metaroom, and you just want to include all that great ecology stuff from that other metaroom in it, or you have a metaroom with no ecology and you want to have a natural way for your norns to feed themselves.
I usually liked to use Bug's Temple for testing out how various ecologies would work together, and after some testing I decided to try it out with Ainarda. I love that metaroom as it is so far, and I'd love to be able to have my norns wander around in it without needing vendors, so until an Ainarda specific ecology is implemented I decided to transplant my own.
Ainarda 1
Here's the main norn area, with a draconian norn as a tester. The agents here in use are: Terraka Weed, Cheese Plant, Evo Avo, Curshoot, Clover, Okrion/Lensis Butterflies, 4 in 1 plant, and various C3/DS creatures/plants.
Ainarda 2
I used Room Changer, Steam Rocks, Weather Generator, and Farmer Shee's Fertilizer Stone to change the properties of the metaroom to be more eco friendly in various areas.
Ainarda 3
As you can see here, I also added quite a bit of ecology to the seas. Various agents from Aquatilis Pod, and The Lost Caves, from C3, and I believe stuff like the Zander Fish/mites and the Shrimpton should be there
Ainarda 4
And finally, the garden. Added various things such as the Square Root, the Rainbamboo, the Bromsplant, Norn Nip, and if you can see it some Bramboo
All in all it's a difficult process, because I have to go in and balance so many factors, especially when the Tribbles get involved. If you're not careful those little guys can eat your entire ecosystem away, you HAVE to have norns or something similar to keep their populations in check.
Do not upset the ugly worm, lest it be a dragon in disguise. (>oo)>

Tribbles? Do you mean those funny little things from NG2, also available as seperate download and based on the Star Trek ones?
And also, pretty neat work you did there.

Funnily enough I often had trouble keeping my tribble population stable... C3/DS norns have an unfortunate habit of eating EVERYTHING in sight when they get started sometimes.
I love fiddling with the ecology. Haven't played DS in ages, but when/if I do pick it up again I imagine I'll spend quite lot of time playing with setting up metarooms full of plants and animals. |

Oooo I love what you've done with it! I think I'm actually going to try and continue working on Ainarda and release some more new things for it. Most of all, like you said, it needs food sources so norns can wander. But on the other hand I think it's so amazing how people have taken the world and added their own things to it in order to make it liveable!

Nice to hear from you again Merboy, it's been a long time, and it's nice to hear you're still working on Airnada I do start to wonder when the main author goes missing!
On the topic, I've always wondered if there's a caos command I can use inject agents next to the hand when they usually come with a metaroom?
There must be one like it because I can ject "stickleback.cos" 7 and then use the ecology kit to bring them to my world.
Being able to grab agents from any metaroom would be such a vast improvement to my worlds.
This is one of my transplanted ecologies
Gaius habitat
The tribbles and Tomeckos really help keep the magic beans under control, the latter produces loads of food, fruit seeds and toys and can encourage crowding in a single spot if not kept in check.

If you're comfortable using REVELATION and the CAOS Tool, Grendel Man has a tutorial for injecting agents from metarooms into other rooms. |
