Hello there!
We actually think this is a great idea. Not just to manage the spam-stream during a holiday week actually |-) But as a meta-solution to keep moderating this community effectively as it grows
As you probably have noticed, the developers try to pop in every now and then but their main job being to finish the game, they can't quite do that every day and the closer we get from release, the truer this fact will get. Bigben Interactive does its best to manage but as you may have noticed in certain threads, it's a bit hard for a PR person who is not sharing the same office space as the developers to handle certain cases/threads... Plus, a PR person is not exactly what the community expects or needs.
Fishing Cactus being an indie developer and not a mega publisher, we don't have a very large community team embedded within our office (just yet). We have point persons who can be available for questions and inquiries but quite candidly, it'd be much more efficient and much faster handled if we could keep things sorted out by Ambassadors that would have been named within the community. As ChosenPredator pointed out, many of you already have experience with forum moderation, as well as an encyclopaedic knowledge of the Creatures universe. In fact, when I look around, I see that already many threads are self-moderated in times when we're not super reactive (and I see that ChosenPredator often has something to with that, so thanks a lot for this!). Basically, we'd just be officializing and improving what's already been going on in practice :gne:
These Ambassadors would have privileged access to our Sophie and Pascal, who already manage the Fishing Cactus social media (facebook, twitter, tumblr, google+, pinterest, flickr, instagram -- that's all them) and also write the C4 blog articles for the Fishing Cactus wordpress. They don't have the answers to every little thing, but they sit closely from the team and can get answers from them in case something really urgent and important comes up.
The Ambassador title would come with a few perks too, namely guaranteed access to the closed Beta when it starts, plenty of merch and a guaranteed Collector's Edition delivered to your mailbox slightly ahead of official launch.
Who's interested?
Pascal, on behalf of Fishing Cactus.
