Luminous Grendel Story

Authors Note: This is not official in any way. I just decided that it'd be fun to write a story about how Luminous grendels (a breed by Grendel Man), may have been discovered. Oh, and I portrayed them as kind, because when I had them in my world. They didn't seem to hit the norns. And instead just ignored them.

A loud whistling was spreading through the Lone Shee?s room in the Capillata, he looked up warily to see that his kettle was ready. Sighing, and rubbing his forehead in a futile attempt to rid himself of an awful headache that had made its home there. He stood and walked towards his kettle, a teacup in hand. However, before he could reach it. A young magma norn beat him to it, and took the kettle off to stove, rubbing herself against it. The Lone Shee sighed, ?this is the third time today she?s done it!? He thought. Before grumbling, ?Come on, Jenny. I?ve already told you. I don?t put the kettle on for you. I?m working on something, and how am I to do that without a cup of tea?? The little norn hung her head, ?Em foo dat.? She said. The Shee slumped his shoulders, ?I thought I already taught you to speak, Jenny.? Jenny looked up, a hint of amusement in her eyes, ?Yes.? She stated. But then added, ?No.? The Shee frowned, this magma was confusing. She showed more intelligence than many of the other magma?s, and as far as he was aware, she showed more intelligence than all of the norns. ?I haven?t had any norns, other than Jenny, pretend that they only spoke bibbleish, for their own amusement!? The Lone Shee was impressed, but more so, was he curious. I must know what happened to cause this! If I could, I could make it so that all of my norns would be this smart! Oh what an advancement that would be! He looked at Jenny, and commanded, ?Drop.? Jenny, however, ignored him. Well, for the most part. She did give him disdainful look, before stating, ?No.? And scampering off. The Shee frowned, norns don?t deliberately disobey direct orders... Or do they? ?No. They don?t. Or at least, most of them don?t.? He grumbled something rather rude and stormed after his troublesome norn. ?This is all very interesting and all. But I still don?t have my tea!? stomped into the room in which Jenny was hiding, and snapped, ?Give me my teakettle now, Jenny!? He heard some giggling, and shifting coming from behind an elevator. He stalked over to her, and snatched the teakettle, ?No!? He said, a little loudly, maybe. He sighed, and walked a little more calmly back to his room.

The Lone Shee poured himself a cup of tea. He sat in his chair. And got to work, once again. But before he could access the genetics of Jenny, he heard, and felt, a huge Crash!
The ship shook with tremors. The Shee checked his computer, and felt his blood run cold. It was a Banshee ship. In a panic, he began to pack up all of the things that he needed to survive. In addition to several random norn eggs, and one of his teakettles. He was about to warp out, when he realized that if he hadn?t already been boarded, he probably wasn?t going to be. As it had taken some time to gather up the stuff. A moment later, he felt horrified at himself, for having intending to leave his norns to whatever fate awaited them at the hands of the Banshee. He put the objects that he had gathered down. And walked towards the computer. He sat down and stared at it for a moment, realizing that this ship looked quite abandoned. He decided that he should check for lifeforms, in case the cruel Banshee had taken norn prisoners, or, even Shee prisoners... He shuddered. And had a scan for life performed. A red light on the screen began to flash. There was something alive on that ship.

The Lone Shee gulped, he hated the idea of possibly having to come in contact with one of the Banshee?s pets. But needed to be sure that there weren?t any trapped norns there. He closed his eyes, and warped down.

?I can?t see a thing!? The Shee thought desperately, he hadn?t thought of the fact that, perhaps he should bring a light. Nope, the thought never crossed his mind. Not even once. Well, not maybe after he had warped down. But as soon as he had, he dropped his warp device.
He shuddered. ?What will I do if I encounter a grendel?? He was rather frightened now. But decided that he had better look, before retreating. Wondering if he would be able to find his way back. He began walking. Running his fingers along to wall, as to avoid walking into it, and hopefully make it so he could find his way back. Soon, he saw a light up ahead, it appeared to be moving. He stopped and frowned, but decided that it could be a good thing. And began to walk towards the shifting light.
When he finally got near enough to make out the lights shape. He froze. A feeling of cold dread creeping through his body. Those lights had the distinct shape of... ?Grendels...? He began to back away, but stopped, when he saw that, instead of pounding on each other, like most grendels did. They were huddling, in... ?Fear? I didn?t think that grendels would react to fear like this... Like... Norns almost... No! That?s preposterous! Grendels acting like norns. Hah! As if. But still.. Maybe I should check these grendels out.? He walked forward cautiously. A grendel looked up, shivered, and huddled down again. The Shee?s heart was pounding. One of the grendels had seen him. But had so far made no move to try and capture him, evade him, or harm him in any way. ?I?m nearly there...? He thought. Fighting the urge to turn and run, he reached them, They ignored him, and, in the center of their group, was a baby glowing grendel. ?Strange... They seem to have some maternal instinct... But why would the Banshee create such creatures?? One of the glowing grendels finally paid him heed, and asked quietly, ?Hit grendel...?? The Shee was astonished. The Banshee had taken the time to teach these beasts to speak! But why? ?That will have to wait...? He thought, before beginning to do something, that, perhaps wasn?t one of his best ideas.

?What am I doing?? The Lone Shee thought, as he led the glow-grendels to where he dropped his warp device. ?What if they kill all of my norns?? He sighed. As much as he disliked them, he had to admit. These grendels acted more like norns then grendels.

Soon, he reached the spot where he dropped his warp device. He picked up the gadget, and warped them all to the Capillata.

?What have I done?? The Lone Shee thought, as the glow-grendels began to blink in confusion in this new environment. One of them began walking to a norn, a little magma- Jenny! The Lone Shee stared in horror. Jenny stood, and approached the grendel herself. The grendel reached her, and... ?Tickled her??
The Lone Shee stood there. Dumbfounded. Jenny giggled, and tickled the grendel, before running off. A huge grin plastered to her furry face. The grendel stood there for a moment, before stating, ?Fig happy.? Another grendel agreed with, ?Augh warm.? The Shee frowned, these must?ve been put on the ship and sent out, exiled from the Banshee?s lair. But how could they speak? He sighed. ?I?ll figure that out later. For now, I think I?d like to make sure that they know that if they hit norn, they can leave and never return!? He glared at the grendels, ?No hit norn. Hit norn and go Banshee home.? The Lone Shee hoped that they understood the word ?Banshee.? They seemed too, as one of them stated, ?Yes. No hit norn. No Banshee home.? The Shee sighed. He was getting himself into something quite complicated by taking in any species of grendel. But these ones seemed... Different. And not just in appearance. ?Speaking of appearance. What should I call them?? He wondered. He decided to ask Jenny.
He walked up to her, and asked, ?What should I call these grendels? Glow-grendels. Bright grendels. Light grendels. Fire grendels. Sun grendels. Or Shiny grendels?? Jenny giggled and said, ?Luminous!? The Lone Shee wondered where she learned that word, but decided to go with it, ?Luminous grendels! Perfect! Thank you Jenny!?
