A few of the programs that I've been using in some of my creatures projects are currently free at the moment. I thought I should share this so that other community members can play with these programs as well. Free programs from Daz 3D The programs to look for on that page are - * Bryce 7 - really good for rendering metaroom backgrounds & similar things. * Daz Studio 4.5 - Can be used for rendering not only metaroom backgrounds, but can also be used for posing & rendering agents & creatures. * Hexagon 2 - a modeling program that you can use to make the models for agents & creatures. Small note - Daz studio was the program used to render the forest section of Silence Falls. |

I haven't been on here in a while, I completely forgot about the Resources section. I would create a new resource article, but I'm not sure how long the free deal lasts. There's almost always a version of Daz studio that's free, but the other two programs are free only for a limited time, as far as I know anyway. |

Since Daz studio always has a free version, I might make a resource article anyway & add a few other free programs I know about, but it may take me a bit to find some of those programs, it's been a long while since I looked for them. |

Thanks for letting us know about the freebie, Mea! I tried to get Bryce 5 to work many moons ago, but couldn't figure it out. Hopefully Bryce 7 will be more accommodating. My TCR Norns |

I recommend everyone who even thinks about getting into making graphics for Creatures get these products. You should never pass up free software that could potentially help you reach your dreams of making the next norn breed, metaroom, or original agent. Hexagon 2, though I've never used it, is likely a great choice and a "must have". It has been a commercial modeling software package for some time and no doubt has some excellent features you won't find in free programs. |

Daz Studio and Hexagon on the Mac both require "OpenGL" version 1.3 or 1.4, respectively. Hexagon will let me open it without OpenGL 1.4, but throws up a serial key on opening (registration) - you can find your serial key on the official website, if you login. Still working on trying to install Bryce 7 properly. My TCR Norns |
