I really do consider the Creatures Community to be my friends and online family that I can turn to and, well, I've just had some bad news about one of our family cats, Matilda.
I got a call from my mum this morning to say that Matilda was hit by a car at one o' clock yesterday afternoon. She's broken a leg, five ribs, and will have to have her tail amputated, that's if she survives. At first I thought that she'd definitely be fine, because she's a right little fighter, but I hadn't realized that she'd also spent all night in an oxygen tent and had to be placed on 24 hour care. You see, she's mischievous and likes to escape out the front and cross the main, busy road. We kept trying to stop her, but we never thought something like this would actually happen.
It doesn't seem very promising to be honest, and I don't know what I'm going to do with myself. It feels worse because we're constantly on the wait for updates from the veterinary hospital, and I don't even live at home anymore, so I can't comfort my mum and be there with her. She absolutely adores Matilda; she's her baby, so I can't imagine how she's feeling if I feel this bad.
Thanks for reading anyway, I just needed to air this all out because I feel terrible. If you guys feel like it, I'd really appreciate it if you kept Matilda in your thoughts today. ![[heart] [heart]](/images/smilies/heart.gif)

We'll keep Matilda in our thoughts, I'm sure she'll get better.

Aww, I'll definitely be thinking of Matilda and hoping for her to get well. It must be a tough time for you and your mom: I really hope everything works out.

Hang in there Laura... I know it sounds awful, but she still has a chance. Something very similar happened to one of our outdoor cats, Crissy, who was about the same age; he was hit by a car and broke several bones, and had to have his tail amputated. For the first few weeks he couldn't walk at all, so if he wanted to go somewhere he'd try to drag himself across the carpet with one paw. We were terrified that we'd lose him and the vet didn't have high hopes for him, but he survived and eventually recovered 100%. Cats can survive some really rough things, and I know Matilda has the best family a cat could want to support her.

I'll definitely keep her in my thoughts. Our old dog once got hit by a car, and the vet said she wouldn't be able to walk anymore. But she recovered and was healthy, and still is, many years after. Sometimes pets surprise us with their recovering, and cats can be tough, too. Hopefully Matilda will make it through this like the strong cat she is!

Thank you guys, it means a lot to feel like I'm not alone today. I must admit, I'm struggling to keep my chin up at the moment. I'm really not having a good day; I'm all tears and snot and I just feel sick. And also, thank you for sharing for sharing your stories, Ghosthande and Panda-mist. Reading about your pets is definitely giving me some good vibes. Hopefully Matilda will be as lucky... |

Poor Matilda! Laura I'm so sorry that your family is going through such a heartbreaking time. My mom works at a Veterinary office and she is always telling me stories of animals surviving the most unbelievable things. You're allowed to be all tears and snot, and you're not alone! I truly hope Matilda pulls through! You both are in my thoughts.

I hope Matilda gets better soon... she's getting some good treatment at the vet's, and she's a fighter, so hopefully she'll pull through.

Thanks again everyone for your kind support. The community has to be the most caring group of people I know; I read your messages over and over yesterday, while I was all tears and snot, and appreciated every single one of them.
It's been really hard. Not only was I having to deal with what's happened to Matilda, but my kitten, Millie, is also poorly with a bacterial infection and keeps having an upset stomach everywhere. Needless to say, she made a lot of mess, leaving kitty... presents all over the litter tray, the carpet AND herself, before deciding to create even more fun for me by running around and jumping up on things! We fell out several times while I was trying to dunk her fluffy behind in the sink to wash it, and this happened all throughout the day. I am shattered. She's doing a bit better today, since going to the vet and being given antibiotics and special food, but it's been very stressful here to say the least! In the end, HQentity came over and stayed to help me stay sane. He's also been brilliant at administering medicine and giving me reassuring hugs!
Anyway, I digress. I will keep you all updated about Matilda. If I'm honest, the latest update isn't a happy one, but she's still hanging on and we're still hoping. Right now it just feels like she's going to end up meeting the same fate as Rodney, but I don't want her to meet him yet. |

Thank you.
Update: My mum just phoned. Because of where Matilda's tail was injured, the nerve-endings that control her bladder and her sphincter are damaged and aren't working, meaning that poor Matilda is doubly incontinent at the moment. Apparently the nerves could come back once the swelling and bruising that she sustained has gone down, but on the other hand, if things don't improve, she'll have to be put to sleep.
So yeah, the situation is 50/50. I'm trying not to think of the worst right now, just keeping myself busy with video games. |

Thank you, Frogman, bless you!
Who wants a Matilda update? My parents went to visit her today. Apart from having to have a blood transfusion last night, which cost £1,000 (thank goodness for pet insurance!!! ) because internal bleeding has left her anemic, she seemed a bit brighter and kept lifting her head up to look around. Her nerve-endings haven't come back yet, but that'll take a while, if anything.
So yeah, it's a good update really. We're all definitely feeling a bit happier and a little bit more positive, while still recognizing that she's not out of the woods yet. I just hope that she continues to improve. |

Thank you everyone for your support and lovely messages throughout this last week. They have meant so much to me and have helped me more than you know. Unfortunately, Matilda deteriorated yesterday and had to be put to sleep last night.
Goodnight, my sweet Matilda. Love you, Tilly Woo. ![[heart] [heart]](/images/smilies/heart.gif) |

Oh no...I'm so sorry. *hugs*
I thought we had her...it's making me think of Milo, my cat who passed away last year...he just started to recover from a failing liver and kidneys..and then a few days after needed to be put to sleep.
Sorry for going on a tangent. It's hard, and we're all here for you.

I'm so sorry to hear that Laura, I've lost three cats and know how awful it is, especially since you lost your previous cat Rodney.
At least now she's at peace and no longer in pain. How's Milly doing? I've noticed cats can sense the loss of a fellow feline; when our Jenny died, they all sat on the same sofa together.

Thank you everyone, I'm a bit all over the place at the moment but I'm bearing up. We all thought Matilda was getting better, and for her to suddenly deteriorate so quickly was really a blow. I know we did the kindest thing possible though, I just wish I'd been there to say goodbye properly.
Millie's fully recovered now, thank you, C-Rex. She didn't know Matilda, so at least I don't have to worry about her sensing she's gone and missing her.
I know I've said this before, but the CC is a wonderful, caring group of people, and I feel blessed to know you all. I really do. Everybody here, and in CC Chat, have been lovely in looking after me today; I'm definitely feeling the love. |

So sorry for what happened Laura.
As you know, I am making a memorial COB for C1 of her, but here is some pictures if anyone wants to see what I have made so far. She will get to run around summer Albia with your norns and you will get to see her whenever you want!

GirlySatan, I'm so excited to have a Matilda in my world. I cannot begin to describe how this'll help me right now; thank you so much! She'll be able to rest in the gardens of Albia, hang out with my Norns, and I'll be able to see and play with her anytime I want. |

It's been a few days, but I've been meaning to say how sorry I am for the loss of your furry friend. I've been in the EXACT same position and it's very hard. But like others have said, her pain is over and she had a long, lovely life full of happiness - you and yours gave her the best. <3
And GirlySatan's COB is going to be fantastic. Obviously, she's very talented!
