I have been raising Chao in Sonic Adventure 2: Battle for nearly ten years now, and was wandering if there are any Chao breeders here at Creatures Caves.
Currently I have three chao: Star, Buzzy and Sonic. Currently they are all babies. |

Jealous!
I used to raise tons of Chao when I had SA2, but my Dreamcast is in storage so all I have to play for the time being is Sonic Adventure DX for the PC. Sometimes I wonder if the developers didn't indend for the "DX" to be an emoticon. The Chao in it are missing a lot of vocalizations and don't act as smart, so I haven't been motivated to play quite as much.
My favorite SA2 Chao that I raised was a Dark Chaos Chao named Maverick. I leveled him up so high he could jump the ditch in Stump Forest and when he ran he looked like he was hovering above the ground. Unfortunately he was dumb as rocks.

I too think Sonic Adventure DX was a bit of a disappointment Chao-wise. Firstly I hate how they kept the old racing system from the Dreamcast port, making stamina essentially useless. I also dislike how you need to buy a lot of Dark or Hero fruit in order to make a Hero or Dark Chao.
Also, the petting system doesn't appear to work. |

Hmm... it works for me, as far as I've been able to tell. Unless you mean it doesn't turn them light/dark, but I'm pretty sure that part was intentional.
I just find it sad that you can't raise their stats without giving them animal parts. They need like a skeleton fruit or something... haha.

By the petting I meant that whenever you petted them, they wouldn't respond and would just walk away. In SA2 they would usually atleast sit there and let you pet them whilst cooing. |

Yeah I think there's something a little weird about their priorities or something. Mine still walk away sometimes, but if I "time it right" the do notice they're being petted. Petting just won't distract them if they were already about to do something else, or something like that.
They don't coo though. That and all of the noises they make when they're sad/abused seem to be gone. If a Chao is afraid they'll just shand there shivering and crying in complete silence. Same for drowning.

The original Sonic Adventure, didn't have most of the animations that were featured in Sonic Adventure DX, so they might have left most of the sound effects out due to time constraints. |
