My CAOS Tool has suddenly decided to make me crazy.
First it said caos.syntax didn't exist in C program files....\Creatures 3, and refused to start. It was working fine last time I used it. So I reinstalled it. But it still gave the same error. So I found caos.syntax in the C ...documents version of C3 (yeah, I have the stupid Exodus version with the redundant directories where it can never find things correctly), and copied it over. CAOS Tool started happily.
Then I tried injecting the script I've been working on. It informed me it couldn't establish a connection with the game. I've restarted the game, restarted CAOS Tool, in every order. No luck.
Anybody know what's going on?

Could it be User Account Control being a pain? I used to get that message if I was running one program as an Administrator but not the other.

Nope...Administrator is the only logon in my virtual Windoze.

I mean if you right-click the link/shortcut to the program instead of normal or double-clicking, it usually has an option to "Run as Administrator". But if you aren't doing it with one already that's probably not the issue, so maybe it's an Exodus problem instead?

I dunno... *sigh* I'm sitting here going through the registry, and I have so many different sets of registry keys for the game; some under Creature Labs, some under CyberLife Technology, and some under Gameware Development...No wonder my setup is so screwy!

Make sure you have Docking Station installed -- not the Exodus version, the version available on www.creaturesdockingstation.com, and it must be installed in the default directory.

It was working yesterday...I may just have to wipe this whole crappy install and try to make it work again from scratch. Urk. Is there a site anywhere with tips on how to install DS & Creatures Exodus on Win XP the RIGHT way, so I can make it work in less than 2 days this time? And maybe actually be able to see catalogue files and stuff? (I've done some seaches, but haven't had much luck yet...we need a Wiki page for this!)
