In what areas are you guys interested in doing research, if you have the option to research anything you want?

I've been mostly studying globalization and global social inequality. I actually don't really enjoy doing "research" though.

Papers that I'm currently writing:
- Global Care Chains: Perpetuators of Global Social Inequality?
- The Case of Socialist Special Economic Zones: Prosperity in China, Stagnation in North Korea
- Human Trafficking of Men: An Overlooked Phenomenon

I can't wait for this week to be over. :'(

Global Care Chains might be your best bet there. It sounds interesting and It's something you'll probably be able to find statistics for the easiest.

I would really recommend being wary of the last one, especially when it's being phrased like that. :P

I'm a research fiend. Any excuse at all and off I go. :P

Most of the information I want relates to ancient history or biology, which unfortunately means that a lot of the specific stuff ends up being something that only occurs in a scientific article (which you usually have to pay for).

Personally, I'd be most interested in researching the history of European cultures and languages.

I'm mostly interested in evolution, determinism and human psychology (all in relation to each other)

I don't actually do research on any of those subjects though. I lack the studies, equipment and most other things required to do any sciency researchy things. Mostly I just read up about subjects and work out any other questions I have about the universe in my head. Surprisingly I often discover articles later on that confirm my idle musings!

That sounds really interesting!

I'd like to research something related to brain plasticity, maybe in regards to use of technology and or language. But I have a wide variety of interests so anything from sociology to botany would make me happy.

Biology, blame Creatures for that.

I like researching history and anthropology. I am enjoying researching the history of costumes. I also liked a short paper (I did a decent amount of research for it) I did on the ideal for women's bodies over time. I also enjoyed a paper on supernovae that I wrote.

Despite my love of jackals, writing a research paper on them proved dull. One article, detailing their mating habits, left me scarred (It might not have, but I heavily associate them with a fictional character I have a thing for. It embarrassed me).

I'm currently researching the risk factors, causes and treatments for venous thromboembolism (helping a friend). It's really interesting to read the medical journal articles, they're quite different from what I'm used to.

I'm interested in literature, mainly folklore. I love researching mythology. I really like reading about history, sociology and literature. I've taken a bunch of classes in the and I find them so interesting.

I hope this thread isn't too old to post on. I did a research paper in the fall about why constructed languages (think Klingon and the Na'vi language) should be taught in schools. I love linguistics and that was the first research paper I actually enjoyed. I'd love to publish the paper someday.

I'm into genetics, psychology (of all animals, including humans!), and politics, although that is also psychology... (granted, hand me a science magazine and I will be occupied spectacularly, no matter the subject. These are just my three favorite subjects.)

Communication and language in non-primate species. Most animals, insects, and fish communicate non-verbally, through the use of body language, pheromones, plumage, or bio-luminescent displays; the staggering number of different ways that creatures communicate has always fascinated me.

In many cases, especially with non-primate mammals which live in tightly knit family groups, their communication reaches a complexity that could be described as language. Would a person be able to learn one of these languages through a lifetime of study? Perhaps even identify dialectal differences in separate family groups? Maybe even learn to communicate through mimicry?

My favorite norn is still Belldandy.

I love that so many people here are interested in scientific topics as well as Creatures. I also find psychology, behavior, and culture amazing to study and it's fun to see some of it in the Creatures games.
