Am I right in thinking that a creature without a stress system, the genes that look like:
300 78 0 You B MutDupCut 128 0 Organ# = 17, Creature, Circulatory, Floating receptor/emitter 21, chem=Stress (Sleep), thresh=128, nom=0, gain=255, features=Digital (0)
and
297 Different in file 2 25 0 You B MutDupCut 128 0 Organ# = 17, Creature, Circulatory, Floating receptor/emitter 15, chem=Stress, thresh=128, samp=24, gain=5, features=Digital (0)
that they would not learn as well that doing stuff to reduce these drives is a good idea? Would they still suffer from these drives?

I don't know how stress works in norns, but in humans, it's what drives us to change and grow. Without stress, there's no motivation; we'd just sit around on our butts all day being content with whatever happened to be going on.
Not to say that a LOT of stress is a good thing, because it's definitely not. But a little bit is essential.

The interesting thing about the stress system is that the majority of it switches on at the Youth life stage, and that it's one of the only organs that cannot be attacked by antigens, or metals, or anything at all.
With this in mind, I have gengineered No Worries, a little girl who has her entire Stress System dormant. I'd appreciate people's views on raising her.

I'm not sure I'm a good choice to play with her, since my norns generally just run wild while I play with agents, but I'm giving her a try. Her first words were "No Worrieth happy." That seemed pretty appropriate.
(I've got the vocabulizer running on a timer, so she could talk right after she hatched.)

Well, adult No Worries sleeps like clockwork still, but I think that's due to an involuntary action. She seems to be a tidge slower to act on her drives, but I'm not sure if that's just me 'seeing things'. Not having a stress system doesn't seem to have held her back at all in a DS undocked world...

Treehugger and Bondi Norns have a partially dormant stress system. (Oops, you knew that already!)
I wonder what would happen turning it on from birth. |

She seems pretty content, overall, and the only "drives" I've seen her have were brief periods of loneliness or friendliness. She had twins the first time she got pregnant, which has nothing to do with anything, except it was cool. I've had her running around with a couple of Ylukylun's improved treehuggers, not realizing they had a partially dormant stress system; maybe that's why she didn't seem particularly to stand out!

The drives which have a 'stress system' in a 'normal' norn are:
*Crowded
*Sleepiness
*Tiredness
*Pain
*Fear
*the three hungers (starch, protein, fat)
*Anger.
Please allow me to introduce you to little CareWorn - like her 'sister', No Worries, she has an edited stress system, however, all of her stresses start from babyhood. I'd appreciate people's views on raising her.
