Is there any way to change the breeding scripts for a single genus of creatures? I want to change the Grendel breeding scripts so that female grendels can lay multiple eggs, and a higher ratio of female grendels to male grendels are born, without affecting the norns that they share the world with. |

In theory this is possible. The different species have different classifiers.
The breed scripts have classifiers like 4 0 0 #
4 0 0 means "any creature" and # is the script number.
The first 0 is the species.
4 0 0 are all kinds
4 1 0 are Norns
4 2 0 are Grendels
4 3 0 are Ettins
4 4 0 are Geats
The second number is the gender. 0 is any gender, 1 is male and 2 female. Let's say you want to alter a male Grendel script, you need 4 2 1.
Simply add your Grendel-only scripts this way. They will override the original scripts, but with the classifiers you can limit this to Grendels.
Lets say you have a script with 4 0 0 and one with 4 2 0. Ettins and Norns will use the 4 0 0 script and only Grendels will use the 4 2 0 script.
In short: Copy-paste the original breed scripts, alter the classifier and do your changes.

Will the game use the species specific script instead of the general script, or will I have to create a replacement breeding script file? |

The game will always use the most specific script for an agent (or creature) that it can, so although it uses 4 0 0 right now, if you create a 4 2 0 script and inject it into the game, it should happily use that right away.
