If you've been anxiously waiting to hear more news about Creatures 4, fear not, because Fishing Cactus are aware of this and have not forgotten us!
As well as discussing with Big Ben to determine what information to release to us in the coming weeks, they've also announced that the team have started to work on one of the most exciting aspects of the Creatures series... Breeding!
You can follow their progress and leave your comments at the Fishing Cactus Blog. |

I really hope they keep the "kiss-popping" aspect of the previous games; it kept mating innocent despite how complex and realistic the chemical processes were e.g.: the sex drive chemical that controlled the creature's urge to mate, and estrogen, which controlled a female Norn's monthly cycle. This actually helped me learn about the chemical aspect of reproduction in animals at quite an early age. |

Kisspopping itself is so Creatures through and through, as in it's an integral part, I'd hope they don't leave that aspect of it out either. However, I am still very interested to see how Fishing Cactus will approach it.
Please be sure to spread this mini update around the CC everyone! The more I hear about Fishing Cactus working on C4, the more promising it becomes. |

I wish they would release more specific information about the game but I am still glad they are communicating what they are up to.
I also think that kisspopping will stay as the mating noise. The noise suggests some intimacy and gets the player's attention but is also very innocent. Why would Fishing Cactus try to create a different noise to meet that criteria when they already have a sound available? It is also very recognisable to current fans and nostalgic fans who haven't played creatures in a long time.
I will definitely be curious to see how Fishing Cactus handle breeding in regards to things like gene mutations, appearances and creature limits however.

I too hope they keep kisspopping. It's as quintessentially "Creatures" as it gets. |

I assume that the brown norn that we've seen in previews is a male norn, yes? Have we seen any identifiably female norns in the preview videos?

Yes-
The trick is looking at the hip/shoulder ratio, at least for the thinner of the two breed. The females have much wider hips, so their torsos' are shaped like pears, while the males torso's are squarer. |
