I hope I picked the right forum for this one...
I'm working on setting up a world that will select for norns with more of an exploratory nature, and I need a way to let them go from metaroom to metaroom in one direction only. That way I can collect the "roamers" who wander the farthest and use them to start the next phase.
I thought I had it solved when I came up with the idea of locking/hiding doors and transporters I don't want, and using elevines for letting the norns travel from place to place, making them one-way by changing the destination elevine's attributes to make it invisible to norns. My prolbem is that the attributes won't change. Are elevines self-healing, or am I doing something wrong?
The command:
tells me that "out of the box," elevines have an attr of 198. I need to add 16 to make the destination elevines invisible, so I use:
CAOS agreeably says "OK." But when I check the attributes again, they're still set at 198.
Help/suggestions?

They are indeed "self-healing", sorry >:
Elevines already sort of wink out for a second after a creature uses one (just long enough to break a creature's focus so it doesn't spam them unnecessarily), so they're on a timer that automatically makes them visible again if they find themselves invisible.
You're using the command right though! Not that that helps your situation any >: Sorry I can't offer a better solution.

Okay, at least I know what to stop banging my head on. The former coder in me won't let it go *that* easily...I'll figure something out.
EDIT: P.S. Your elevines are awesome. Even if they *are* self-healing. I can't wait for the garden box!

You could use REVELATION to decompile and edit the elevine agent. |

Ooh, a challenge. I'll have to work up to that. Not sure I'm ready to compete at Amaikokonut's level just yet!

Don't worry editing an agent is usually easyer than making a new one from scratch.
And I think all you need to do shoukd be change 2 or 3 scripts, and maybe add a signal-lamp to show weather the elevine is hidden or not. But I'm not sure since I haven't looked into them jet. |
