I'd like to make my desert volcano erupt more often on it's own. I figure this shouldn't be too hard to edit but I'm lost when it comes to coding and I can't spot what to change.
(The reason behind this is that my gnarlers just keep dying out. I've tried to set up input agents... but then I get too many gnarlers instead and the eruptions are so constant no creatures want to live there XD )

Have you tried looking at the install script? The tick for the machine is by default set to 1200 to 12000. In theory, reducing that number should get the volcano more active.
Although if you're doing it for the gnarlers, setting it too low will likely just make them overpopulate.

How does the tick number translate, roughly speaking, into real time?
If it's 20 ticks a second, it's set from every minute to every ten minutes.
Gnarlers don't breed unless there are more than 20 rocks and less than ten gnarlers around.

I'm also interested in what a tick represent. Oh wait, doesn't the wolfing run screen count ticks? I'll go count!
Anyhow, I'll tinker with it and see if I find a decent balance! With the information Malkin provided about gnarlers, it will be an easier task to archive this.
Thanks
EDIT:
It seems like 1sec *roughly* equals 20 ticks, so 1min would be about 1200 ticks.
Malkin, did you know that or was 20ticks/sec a wild guess? XD (I image that I just misread what you typed, taking it as a question instead of a statement). |

Moe told me once of the 20 ticks per second rule, I must have been remembering it from him.
There's an updated gnarler cos file in Vampess's Norn Woodland Fix Patch which fixes an issue with the collision of the gnarler dung.

I thought the relationship between ticks and realtime depended on your processing power.
By the way, I don't care if anyone steals my ideas for their own work, as long as you don't try to stop me from making my own stuff. Many ideas I mention are things I don't have the time or skill to actually do. |

Mostly on slow machines. When you have a machine with enough power and your wolf control is off, 20 ticks are 1 second, just like told before.
