OK, I posted awhile back on how I wanted to make confusing agents (which look to norns like one class, but behave like another) as part of an IQ test. I'm currently working on a confusing version of the DS carrot pod and carrots. Warning - I'm very new at CAOS!

It was pretty easy to change the classifiers of everything (3 2 99, 2 21 99 and 2 11 99 are unused, right?) but I need to make the pod carriable, and also make it appear by the agent injector.

I'm pretty sure I know how to make it appear where I want it - mvto and the coordinates for the thing - but is there a fancy way to tell it to appear by the agent injecter regardless of whether it's the C3 or the DS one?

And I have no clue how to make it carriable.


By the way, I don't care if anyone steals my ideas for their own work, as long as you don't try to stop me from making my own stuff. Many ideas I mention are things I don't have the time or skill to actually do.

Do you want to make it carriable by the hand or by norns? For the hand, you use ATTR, and for the norns, you use BHVR.

There are some thoughts on how to make the agent appear by whichever creator in an earlier topic, that might help. If you're trying to make it C3 standalone, it would help to look out for DS-only commands like mvsf.

Hand. I want it that the hand can take it to an empty room (eg Random's room) to test a norn with it.

Is there anywhere I could find out what number to put after ATTR means what?

You add up all the attributes you want, and that's the number that goes after ATTR.

So in this case, you want it to be mouse-activatable (4) and mouse-carriable (1). The numbers after ATTR and BHVR are the sums of the qualities you want to give your agent - so the number after ATTR in this case would be 5. :)

OK, another question. Which program is it that can inject .cos files? I've never had any success doing that with the CAOS Command Line, and I'd rather not stick it in the Bootstrap folder anyway in case I forget to remove it.

You say you never put it into the Bootstrap folder? That explains why it never worked via command line. The ject command only reads from there.

Small correction: "mvsf" is an okay command in both C3 and DS (I should know - Past Seas uses that command a lot). DS-only commands include stuff like "drop" and "core."

Anyway. The program you're thinking of is the C3/DS CAOs Tool created by CL. It might have issues if you're using Exodus, though (I don't, so I've never had a problem). It's available at the official site (provided you adjust the links for Gameware's new url).

Uhh... are you sure? Everyone I've talked to says it's DS only, and I've had problems with it before, presumably for that reason.

Yes, I can say with certainty that it works with both games. The CAOs tool, when rigged to work for C3, has no problems with it, and it's in both games' CAOs documentation.
