How do I zip a file? I want to submit a cob to the cob section but I won't let me without zipping the file first.

Investigate WinZip - that's what Microsoft has used for ages to zip files, so that should work fine for you.

How Do You Zip a File? - I found this old help topic by doing a quick forum search. Spook posted an easy step-by-step guide on how to zip a file there.
It's worth searching the help forum first, as you can sometimes find the answer you need in some of the old topics. |

When I go to my desktop, right click, and click on new there is no option for me to select. Compressed (Zipped) Folder.

You could try to install /Zip. In opposite to WinZip is it platform independent and for free.
Oh, good point: at what platform/OS are you?

What is a OS? I tried that 7-zip thing once, it didn't open automatically when I wanted to extract something to a folder so it was hard for me to use. I use WinRar right now, and I have a hp Windows Vista.

'OS' stands for 'Operating System'.
If you have Windows Vista, I don't understand why 'Compressed (Zipped) Folder' isn't showing up when you right-click and select 'New', because it does on mine.
When you highlight 'New' with your cursor, doesn't a drop-down menu appear with a list of different folder and file types? The zipped folder option should be amongst those.
Edit: Failing that, have you tried right-clicking the .creature file, and in the menu that appears, selecting 'Send To' and selecting 'Compressed (Zipped) Folder' that way? The .creature file should be placed in a zipped folder then. |

Yes, but the only options for me are... folder, shortcut, bitmap image, contact, Microsoft Office Word Document, Journal Document, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 Presentation, WinRAR Archive, Text Document, Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet, WinRAR ZIP Archive, WinZip Zipx File, and Briefcase.

Select 'WinZip Zipx' file? Try uploading a Norn for adoption with that and see if it works?
Maybe the 'Compressed (Zipped) Folder' option has been replaced with that because you have WinZip installed. |

WinZip is expired, so I uninstalled it but Compressed (Zipped) Folder is still not showing up.

Try the option Winzip ZIP Archive, that should ask you fi you want a .rar or a .zip file, and voila. The Winrar ZIP archive option should also work.

When I press on WinRAR Archive it gives me a desktop icon, then I clicked open but it only shows a folder, I clicked the folder and it only shows me games I have on my computer.

... *facepalm*
Presuming your on windows, i'm gonna make this easy for you.
Once you've installed winrar, right click, create new, create new winzip/rar file, then bam, you have it. Then you drag whatever COB file you want into the folder.

winRAR can make zip files or rar files. For upload, a zip file is needed.

I know you're trying - I'm just saying there might be an option or something to make a zip file that you're overlooking. Have you checked WinRAR's help files?

I checked WinRAR's help files but I still couldn't find anything that could help me.

It could be that WinRAR is asking you to find the cob to zip when it's showing you the folders.

There is only one folder labeled ..., and inside the one folder there are only shortcuts to some of the the of the things I have on my desktop screen.

Maybe you need to move the cob to be zipped to your desktop, and then WinRAR can find it easily?

That is what I did, I moved cob to desktop and put it in the winRAR archive thing, renamed it "cob name".zip, but that didn't work.

Aw. The last thing I can think of to do would be to ask your parents or siblings - they know your computer better than we do, and may have used it to zip files in the past.
