I,ve got much too many Dragonfly's in my world.

My question is, is there a way to get rid of a few without using CAOS commands? Any good critter? Or some kind of bugspray? I,ve allready tried the rocklice but those won,t stay on the highest platforms. Or we can create a bug spray which kill all dragonfly's wich get close to the dust clouds. |

In theory would it probably be easy to create such a bugspray.
As alternative you can reset the Dragonflys with this little CAOS code:

Do they have a bad side?

They are making my world run so slow.
But i think i,m going to use what Pap said. |

My notes, which may be a little out of date, suggest that nothing eats adult dragonflies, but that they can die.
The adult population is controlled by the stickletrout eating the larvae and by the amount of bugs and pests they've got to eat.
For example, if I use the Extra Water Plants in the grendel jungle, I find that they keep the mozzies, gnats and wasps well down, but sometimes they can't find a meal, so they die.
So a 'bugspray' agent would work.

ject "dragonfly.cos" 7 doesn,t work for me. I think i will just remove them with a kill targ next command.
Or we create a bugspray. |

But ject "dragonfly.cos" 7 should work... Except the file isn't called so for you. Maybe you look up the C3 Bootstrap Directory? Also look for capitalization.
The code for the bug spray is basically this:
| echt # # # kill targ next |
ETCH works basically like ENUM, but only affects agents whose sprites "touch" the sprite of the executer. Don't forget to replace # # # either with the classifier for Dragonflies or for bugs in general.

It's probably better to be more specific... I think Vampess said the girl-dragonflies usually remain by the pond, and the boy-dragonflies roam further unless it's dragonfly breeding season.
Part of the problem with the original dragonfly file was that the boy-dragonflies greatly outnumbered the girl-dragonflies.

I,ve finished the Bug Spray, but now it,s a spray of doom which kills all critters, bugs, and even Creatures! |

then call it the doom spray.

It would also be better if rather than removing things from the world, the killing spray instead triggered their death script - so that the detritus would remain in the world and nourish what little remains.

Except that there is no such thing as a death script. Unless you're targeting dragonflies specifically, triggering a 'natural death' in all bugs and critters is not viable, especially not with 3rd part bugs and critters.

That was what i was wanting first, but its just that there is only a dead script for creatures.
Just like how Aquashee said. |

Hehe, I'm wearing my smarty-pants this week.
A dragonfly-only bugspray is doable though. I think if you just set their ov99 to 1 they'll die.

Well, there is a bug spray.
There was a metaroom made during this years CCSF!
A metaroom that was a grendel hide out or something.
The bug spray killed deadly blood sucking things, but, I think it could work on other things!

The Grendel Hideout?
I definitely would not recommend using it in C3 or a docked world. It screws up the mosquitos in the Jungle Terrarium quite badly.

Why? Any conflicting scripts?

Oh yeah. The bugs that come with the room basically hijack the mosquito's scripts. So the big jelly-plant in the Jungle ends up spitting out large hordes of Mossies AND the GH bugs... it gets really weird, and it gets to be quite a mess.
And you can't simply remove GH and think things will go back to normal because that removes the Mossies' scripts from your game(!) and then the seed bank plant gives you errors every time it tries to make a Mossie. You have to re-inject the Mossie scripts manually.
From my understanding the Hideout simply wasn't meant to be used in C3 or docked worlds. It works perfectly in a standalone DS world, it just causes problems if you try to have it in a world that has a Jungle Terrarium.
