How got the Random Teleporter such a high success-rate for teleportations? When I type
"targ norn mvsf rand 0 10000 rand 0 10000"
into the CAOS console, I get still loads of erros like "could not find safe position (875, 3452)"

There's a command that means basically "if location is safe". I've used it before but can't remember what it is off the top of my head... I'll see if I can figure out where I used it.

I would guess the Hoverdoc uses it when it changes from hovering mode again to compact mode, doesn't it?

So here's what you do: Tell it to find a random ROOM.

And how?

The random teleporter actually does work by selecting a random metaroom and then picking coordinates within that metaroom through some complex process I haven't quite made sense of yet.
But it might just be easier to have the object pick random coordinates, test if they are safe, and if not, picking another completely random set until it finds one that works. IN theory anyway-- I haven't tried it myself.
I believe the test-move command is TMVT used in the context "TMVT [x] [y]". It returns 1 if it is safe, 0 if it is not. So you'd probably use something like "doif tmvt va01 va02 = 1" assuming va01 is your x-coordinate and va02 is your y-coordinate.

Invalid command "tmvt"
Still thanks for all that response.

Ooh if you're moving a creature directly try TMVF

Now it worked. I only got a "Operation not allowed on Creature"-error because I used mvsf

That's... strange.. sure the creature wasn't in a lift or being carried at the time?
You could probably just try MVFT instead of MVSF, technically since it's been tested for safety it should be fine. I honestly don't have much scripting experience with moving creatures around. Hmm...

The creature was dancing (gait mutation, looked pretty odd XD) next to the DS Incubator-Heatpan-Thingie...
Lol, why made CL so many move commands? MVTO, MVFT, MVSF...
Hmm, I'll try MVFT.
EDIT: did not work. Again a "Operation not allowed on Creature"-Error.
| targ norn loop setv va01 rand 1 10000 setv va02 rand 1 10000 untl tmvt va01 va01 = 1 mvft va01 va02 | was it not.
btw: I try that actually all in the CAOS console. I always prefer interpreters to scripts ^^

Try this:
targ norn
loop
setv va01 rand 1 10000
setv va02 rand 1 10000
untl tmvf va01 va02 = 1
mvft va01 va02
It works for me anyways
Edit: Woah, you have to watch it though-- it will literally send creatures anywhere, including hidden rooms.

Now it works finally. Thanks again
To your edit: it was meant to send the norn anywhere. Even when I lose the creature, I can switch to it with the creature-GUI + I used it on "targ norn", so I can use the auto-follow-with-screen function.
At last I used it on a norn which is not so terrible when I lose it. ![[devil] [devil]](/images/smilies/devil.gif)

Haha, it's just pretty funny to watch a creature walk around on the DS title screen.
Depending on what you plan on using it for, you might consider extending the range to 100000 instead of 10000, since many of the larger/more recent metarooms (Like c12ds) fall outside of the 10000x10000 box
