Strangeo Forum Show off your Pets!   1 | 2 | 3 | 4 Rha   8/22/2013 ^This. I just can't deal with how pets are often treated here. Last year I remember they announced on tv that this years pet that's 'in' are hedgehogs. Images of little kids petting hedgehogs. What. Yeah this is how these things happen, every kid wants a weird pet, the week after they're thrown out.   NimhsLab   9/10/2013  1 Guess what~ I got pictures of my cat, Trixy! I'll leave Kappsune to post images of her cat and dog, if she so chooses. This is Grace, an 11 year old Toy Poodle. She's really camera shy and it's hard to photograph her, so this photo's about a year old. (And since then she's had a spiffy haircut!) Next we've got the family dog, Spike the Boxer. Finally, here are some pictures of my cat Citrus. I'm not sure of what breed she is - the shelter told me she was a Munchkin, but she's now almost a foot and a half at the shoulder and weighs at least ten pounds! I've guessed she's a Norwegian Forest Cat but I think she's really just a Moggie. On the topic of 'throw-away pets'; I think it's pretty pretentious of people to buy their kids exotic pets only the toss them away a week after. It's horribly, sad, too, how people never seem to do any research on the needs of said animals, either. I've seen quite a few small mammals taken away because people don't know that ferrets need exercise or that hedgehogs are nocturnal and very loud. I support shelter adoption over breeding - the majority of my family's pets came from shelters, including Citrus and Spike. The poor Boxer was trained for dog fighting, proved to be weak, then abused, starved, and abandoned. If we hadn't adopted him they would have put him down just for having pneumonia. He's the sweetest, smartest little dog, too. Whenever we can, my mum's going to try to take in the dogs and cats that are slated for euthanasia at our local kill shelter and care for them until their problems are fixed and they find new homes.   Rat-tailed     9/16/2013 Alot of 'private breeders' - actually most, if not all breeders - consistently inbreed their animals to some extent. Just a note. Yes, even 'exotic' breeders. It's supposed to ensure good quality or something like that.   Tea Queen Laura     9/16/2013 So many adorable animals in one topic!   SplicerTheDicer   10/1/2013  1 Here are some pictures of my cat Baby Kitty who passed away earlier this year from cancer at 17 years old. I miss her so much. She helped raise me, like a tiny, furry mother. When I was a kid, if I started crying she would run up to me and start hissing at anyone who came close. She really believed I was her kitten. I think I'll post more pics of my cats later, if that's ok. I have a lot of them and they're all adorable.   Carrot Beetle DragonSparke   10/9/2013 My pets aren't quite... typical, but they're my babies and I love them! They're not very friendly to people, so they're pretty much just cage birds, but i love them all the same!
