Hello, Barb! We're happy to welcome you to Creatures Caves! Please shout if you need anything. As for starting points, I agree with KittyTikara, but I'd also recommend the C12DS metaroom. This way you can play the entire C1 game (plus a few extras), in C3/DS and get the best of both worlds! |

Oh, wow, Laura, thanks, that sound like a good solution. I will have to learn how to add rooms. |

You're welcome! Installing C12DS is straightforward; you just have to run the exe file and then install the Windows Beta Patch, which is also an exe file (the patch is very important for fixing bugs). |

I found the two files I need to do C12DS. Running the first one (not the patch), it gives me choices, not sure what I should do.
It says
select components to install:
Docking Station (stand alone)
CIE Docking Station
CIE Creatures 3
Exodus-Docking Station
Exodus-Creatures 3
I have installed C3 and DS from Exodus (DS is not working because I cannot figure out how to get a password since the website is defunct.) Which of these above should I check off? |

I'd still pick 'Exodus-Docking Station', because there is a way to bypass the log-in screen in order to play DS offline; you just need to download and install the DS Offline Option. I'd do that before trying to install C12DS though. |

Hello I'm Deacon and I just joined today, so happy to find an active fan site
Anyway I was going through some of my files and found a few old Breeds that Nightrunner made way back in the day and after looking around it didn't look like anyone was hosting them so I put one up.
They are Set Norns and they are vicious so be careful if you get them, they can be a pain if you aren't careful with them.
Not trying to sabotage anyone's worlds so fair warning, I just hated to see such a great old Norn breed be lost. |

Welcome Deacon! And thanks for contributing! Losing any breed to the sands of time is a sad thing and I'm glad you're reviving a dead breed.

Back with my daily noob questions. I have installed C12DS and the windows beta patch. I am now able to run DS, yay.
1. Is there a basic beginner tutorial for C3/DS? I have searched all over and am not finding anything really basic. I watched Jessica's videos for C1 which prepared me to at least get started. In both of these I have no idea how anything works.
2. I finally found the doors to various areas on DS, but I cannot figure out where it is for the C1 room. The readme says there is a tip of a stonelike device sticking out somewhere, but I have question-clicked all over and I am not finding it.
3. I can only seem to run C3 and DS as separate games. How do I run them "docked"?

Good Evening! (Or Afternoon...Or Morning...)
I've been a long time player of C3DS and have long admired all of the contributors to the community and game. It's apparent from all of the tools, metarooms, toys, food agents out there, that there's something for everyone.
Most recently I was backing up files from a dusty hard drive and found all my mall breeds and agents I've downloaded, after which the logical step was to purchase yet another copy of the game!
I went on a downloading/reading spree and started enjoying a few different worlds: One I run in the background while I am away and another where I grow attached to a select few Norns.
Even after all these years, it is refreshing and relaxing to play C3DS.
But I've been thinking I should give back to the community though... |

Hello and welcome to our website, SilverDagger00X! A big downloading spree sounds like a fantastic way to become re-acquainted with the Creatures series. What ideas do you have in mind for giving back to the community? |

Thank you! Thank you!
My strength would probably be sprites and have a few ideas I am fleshing out and reading the mechanics of.
My weakest trait would probably be coding but I am doing my homework and luckily we're a community and I might find some help! |

Very cool, welcome to the site... I'm pretty new here myself, but I'm the opposite I think; learning a lot about coding and have a few ideas, but I'm not really that good at the graphics side.
If you have any ideas for projects, definitely post them in the development forum and I'm sure someone would be able to offer help and advice. And have a look in there yourself in case any of the ideas in there interest you.

Hi! I'm new. I played the first Creatures many moons ago, when corded telephones still roamed the earth. GoG had a big sale on all the Creatures games recently so I bought up the series and have been playing c3/ds every free moment since. I forgot how addictive these little critters are! Anyway, I found this site while looking for more info on the game and have been thoroughly enjoying some of the downloads I stumbled across. I thought I should introduce myself before I start asking stupid questions. Nice to meet you all!

Welcome to the community, SilverDagger00X and Blueseraph! Great to have old players coming back to the Creatures games! And never be afraid to ask questions: There aren't any stupid ones, particularly since there are so many complex elements to the games. We're all here to help make Creatures fun for all sorts of players! Enjoy!

Hello! My friend introduced me to Docking Station years ago, and we both loved playing and sending each other norns. Now that I finally have some time away from college, I'm getting back into C3/DS and having a blast! Though half of that play-time has been spent tracking down all the agents, COBs, breeds and the rest that I used to play with since my old Creatures files aren't accessible anymore, it's really cool seeing all the stuff that's been made since I last played!
I've also been looking forward to Creatures Online. I'm looking forward to playing with my girlfriend once it comes out.
Oh, and my avatar is a saiga antelope. Yep, a real animal! |

Razander, have you played C1 and C2 as well? If you need some help finding those agents, we have a great thread for that here. As for Creatures Online, we have an entire forum dedicated to it here.
Anyway, best luck, good wishes, and welcome to all new members!

Welcome to Creatures Caves, Razander! Our downloads section here contains a great listing of many different agents, breeds, and metarooms. And as Tarilithina said, we have a great topic to help people find specific downloads that seem to be lost! Hope you're enjoying everything C3/DS has to offer!

Oh yeah, have I been combing through the CC downloads section! The next thing I want to do is adopt some interesting creatures and poke through their genome. And then there's the Development forum, which I have yet to read...
PS: If it looks like I've disappeared off the face of the earth so soon after getting back into Creatures, it's because I'm learning all I can about Creatures genetics. |

I was drawn here because of the agents that were posted here after I had gotten the norn itch again but couldn't find my CD. Once I got the GOG version it didn't take me long to look for those good old agents I used to play with but didn't save. |

Hello! Creatures player since many years back, although I've never really been involved in the community. C2 is my favourite in the series, closely followed by C1. Recently got the GOG version since W7 doesn't like neither my Albian years disc nor the originals. Ended up here a little while back when searching for old favourite cobs and norn breeds and figured I might as well join since I find myself coming back here a lot. |

Welcome to Creatures Caves, Wooly! The GOG.com versions are lifesavers for playing Creatures on newer computers. I hope you're enjoying getting back into it and finding all of the old COBs and breeds! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Great to have you here: Enjoy the site!
