I don't know, all this "let's drop my kid off and all will be okay" stuff just seems like it's letting owners off too easy. As we can see with some of the dead and also dying Creatchis, it takes well over 3 days to actually kill a Creatchi, and for some it takes over 7 days, so, - I don't think giving an option of just carefree for such a time is so necessary. After all, the Creatchi game is what helps keep the site active. It isn't that hard for some of the owners to simply be around a little more than once in 8 days. If they won't be, that's fine, they could just understand that having a Creatchi requires responsibility.
I don't mean to sound harsh about it, I just think that Creatchi owners should understand there's responsibility, but also that theirs can indeed live unattended to for a pretty long while. Yes, it's torture for us to see, but if they understand they can revive them in due time, that would be nice. Or if indeed there was an option for us to donate items or give them care for a day, sure. Just not an option for the owner to toss aside the Creatchi for prolonged periods. That's cheating.

LilyNorn wrote: I have an idea! Maybe there could be an option to put your Creatchi to bed, like storing them in a sort of stasis until they have time to care for them? That way, if for example you were going camping or something and had no internet access, you could send your Creatchi to sleep and wake him up when you get back. I think this is a great idea. Perhaps you could trade like 5 apples and 5 balls for 1 sleeping pill, which would put your Creatchi to sleep for 48 hours without the drives decreasing.
kezune wrote: Maybe members could feed and play with other peoples' Creatchis? I've considered this as well. It could be a good way to keep others' Creatchis alive, without actually taking them away from the owners.
Grendel_Man wrote: It's most definitely preferable to watching a creatchi die because it wasn't the species the adopter wanted (a scenario which, if it hasn't already happened, is likely to come up at some point). I thought about this, but once many Creatchis start breeding, there will be a variety of Creatchis up for adoption so that users can select the gender and species that they want to adopt.
I love everyone's ideas here! However, part of the game is that you have to be responsible for your Creatchi. I think some of these options shift too much responsibility away from the owners. If they're bad owners, they have to log in and get the sad private message that their Creatchi has passed away due to their neglect. Hopefully that is incentive enough to be a better parent the next time around.

Exactly - It's about responsibility.
I think paying for a sleeping pill or paying for putting them in a sanctuary or whatever related would be better. But the price, like Rascii gave example for, should be higher than just say 3 apples.

I agree most with the suggestion that creatchis be allowed to be put to bed/put in stasis rather than re-adopted or looked after by the rest of the forum. This rewards owners who want to look after their creatchi even if they' can't visit as frequently (or if they're on holiday, or sick or a bunch of other things!) and lets those who are wilfully neglecting their creatchi to learn a little about responsibility.

Plus, in order to buy the sleeping pill and give it to your Creatchi, it shows you're being responsible for it.

If I end up with a red creatchi after Dusty passes, it doesn't matter what gender it turns out to be, I'm naming it Picard. ![[nlaugh] [nlaugh]](/images/smilies/emot_laugh.gif)

Just curious, but how long is the natural lifespan of a Creatchi? It looks like all of the dead ones died at around 3 days and 8 hours. |

No one knows yet, actually. (except maybe Rascii and the testers)
Those dead Creatchis are all there due to starvation or neglect. :C

The hibernation option should probably last more than two days- maybe a week? Most of the reasons I'd use it for would be like if I was away on vacation or had exams. |

I agree with the putting creatures in stasis while your away!
It's still sad to just let a neglected creatchi die of neglect though...
If I could magic up anything I wanted without bothering anyone with codes, I'd say have the creatchi put back up for adoption when in critical condition, but the person who neglected it near death can't re-adopt it.
That would probably be more coding then it's worth though...

Good luck Laura. I think the next truly healthy male available is several days too young. I've got a strong connection with Leon right now, but it seems he might get pretty ill before the owner even accepts my breeding request.

There seems to be a large imbalance in the male/female ratio right now, strongly favoring females.
Allowing polyamoury would be a stopgap solution, but I think maybe changing the probability that determines the sex of natural eggs so becomes more biased twords the less common sex the larger the M:F ratio for that species?
Edit: Also for some reason I have only been finding balls. Do I need to do something particular to get food items? |

You should be running into apples too, if you post both in forums and bibbles often. I've found cheese when posting downloads.
I think the main thing that would solve gender ratio imbalance is allowing Creatchis to have a second/last spouse after so many days with their first.

Updates
I just decreased the pregnancy time span a bit. It seemed to be a bit too long for everyone to wait.
Additionally, I've added Creatchi births to the Updates feed.

Thanks for all your hard work on this, Rascii. It will be nice to see when a new creatchi is born.
I'm not sure I agree with allowing poly relationships, especially as it's still early days. We don't know how long creatchis live for but we do know that there's going to be an adult and elder/senile stage at the very least. It could well be that the young creatchi is an adolescent and available to breed when your creatchis are adults.
As for how to get items, there are some helpful tips in the first post. ![[nsmile] [nsmile]](/images/smilies/emot_smile.gif)

I just saw the notifications a few minutes ago, Rascii. I like.
And it looks like both of the new eggs are little girls, Mip! Hopefully we'll get to see what colors they will turn out to be. So now there's one second generation offspring of each Creatchi.

Karias: Who knows, maybe Ruby will get to know Patrick better! If not, she can just proudly become the spinster of the pack and babysit everyone else's offspring. Aunty Ruby.
Congratulations to all those with new little arrivals! Just too cute. |

Personally, I think finding objects is proving too hard. I'm active around here, with forum posting, chatting, bibbles and comments, but I've yet to receive a single toy for my nornchi. And now I'm out, and I don't know how to get more. I know how to get apples, but that's all I've founf out. My creatchi won't starve, but she'll get really bored.
This kind of struggle in the dark takes away a lot of the fun on my part... |

I haven't been too active lately, but I have a pretty healthy hoard of items! Commenting and posting should provide you with lots of opportunities to get both apples and balls: I usually get an item every 2-4 posts I make.
Are you sure you're not missing the little notification? It typically shows up underneath your post, and can be easy to miss.

Both apples and balls are found randomly by posting on the forums (either new posts or replies), posting comments and posting bibbles. If you post more, you will eventually find a ball.
EDIT: To top the post off, I got a ball for posting that, haha.

Or maybe there should even be a way to allow your Creatchi to access your inventory on their own. So you don't have to give them everything, as long as you keep them stacked.
By the way, where do the toys go after they've been played with? Why do they disappear, other than adding game challenge? |
