Thanks for the welcome
I love alot with the game, i think their sprites are the cutest ever <3 the later games actually turned me off alot when they came due to their appearances.
Only thing i wish existed was better worlds. i dont like the 'original' too much ._. i always feel a need for a bigger enviroument. ^^; |

Hello...
I was really obsessed with the Creatures games when I was a kid...always drawing them, playing I was them, writing stories and such.
A lot of time has passed (I'm 22), but I've still played the games at random points in time since then.
As of late I've been interested in the games again, nothing really special about that as my interests tend to vary. But I hope this one will stay for a longer period.
I don't really know what else I should tell here. I was going to draw a norn and post it in the gallery but as usual my interest drifted off to something else before I was finished. |

Hmm. I think I'll wait if I'll manage to get around to continue the drawing within two weeks. (Though that might be a vain hope.) If not then I'll post it as it is. |

It can take some warming up to the graphics in C1 but the game has some serious charm when you give it a chance. ;D

Hello everyone! I recently bought the Creatures "The Albion Years" (C1 and C2) on sale at goodoldgames - As one who originally played Creatures 1 as a young teenager, and who was absolutely mind blown by the game and its sequels, the nostalgia by playing it is immense.
One problem, though: I've already raised three beautiful norns, but I haven't taught them all their nouns or emotions, nor do I particularly feel like investing the time in it (it's a lot more fun to teach them eating and health habits, imho). Now I know there were several good COBs out there one could use to do it for me, but when running Creatures 1 on this machine (laptop, windows vista), using the injector makes the game crash.
Any ideas why this is? I'd rather not reinstall and lose my norns :/ |

Welcome to the forums, Tia! It's great to see someone else playing C1 and C2.
When using third-party addons, with the GOG.com versions of the Creatures games, it's recommended that you install the Creatures Remastered Patch first. That should solve the problem. |

Welcome to Creatures Caves, Tias! Have you installed the Creatures Remastered Patch? Without it, the injector kit typically doesn't work correctly in the GOG.com versions of C1, C2, and C3/DS. I highly recommend the Encyclopedia Nornia for helping with vocabulary. I still normally just stick with the computer in C1, though I might upgrade soon enough!
I hope this helps: Have a great time playing the game and at Creatures Caves!
EDIT: Laura beat me to the remastered patch update. Ha ha!

Jessica's idea to use the Encyclopedia Nornica is an awesome one; I always swear by it when teaching my creatures their vocabulary. It's just makes the job a little bit easier, especially as the books can be picked up and brought to where they are, if they feel like wandering off.
Also, be sure that you're installing the COBs correctly by following their Readmes to see where the different files go! |

Ack.. Am I the only one who experiences the various encyclopedia books stuck in one place after placing them? Now it's right in my nursery, and the little guys will much rather press them than socialize or eat.
E: Volume 2 also stays stuck up in the air after initial placement.. |

Hello.
Hm, what should I say. I'm old. I haven't played the Creatures games in... almost a decade. Found a backup of my C3 disk on a very old HDD. After some fits and starts, got C3/DS working again, reinstalled my old breed packs, tried a search for some of the 3rd party agents I remembered from long ago and found a community that was not dead.
So, here I am.
I have a few talents, image manipulation being one of them. I'm also a programming hobbyist. Currently trying to get a grasp of Caos syntax, though the lack of complete documentation is annoying.
And that's that.
I don't always use such concise sentences, I just find it awkward to have to write about myself. I'd much rather write about something interesting.
My favorite norn is still Belldandy. |

Thanks, glad you like it.
I love the Garden Box, the thing is just so... ingenious. Can't thank Amaikokonut enough for having created it.
I'm thinking of a few more foodstuffs to introduce to the GB, strawberries being one of them to address the woeful lack of strawberries in the game.
Who can live without strawberries?
My favorite norn is still Belldandy. |

Hi Everyone,
I used to play all the Creatures games back in the day on Windows 98 and WXP (got them to work in XP). But then upgraded our computer later to more updated hardware and then couldn't play them on WXP anymore or on W7 later.
GOG brought back my old favorites to me and my son. It feels so good to be playing Creatures, again. It was always my favorite and now it is one of my son's favorites.
Thank you for this wonderful site. So many of the old sites are gone, now, and the old creators missing. I appreciate this site so much. |
