After a year of occasionally stopping by Creatures Caves, I have finally made an account! I have been playing Creatures since I was a wee one with a copy of Creatures Playground that I do wish I could find. I spend my days drawing, reading webcomics, and writing a novel. Or a novella, rather: my goal this year is 32,000. It's for National Novel Writing Month. I have Docking Station, Creatures Adventures, and way too many Norns. I never got into the community or the genetics aspects of this game when I first played, and I probably didn't get much out of it the first time around. However, the idea behind the game is still as intriguing as when I first picked it up and I'd like to further explore it now. :3 I'm curious to learn more about this game and find more ways of enjoying it, but one thing I will say is this: I don't remember the norns being so frustrating to look after! XD I've only been playing C2 thus far though and everything I've found on it points to terrible genetic coding being the cause for all the frustration with it. I remember when I first saw this site must have been in 2006. I started playing creatures when my dad braught home an old C1 CD in 2005. I broke two computers I was so addicted to playing it. I must have been 11 at the time so it was like the coolest thing ever. I also played a little C2 and C3 in 2008 as well. So yeah, I've been aware of CreaturesCaves and many other sites for creatures but I've never had the chance to take part in them till now. And since you seem like such a friendly community, I feel rather welcomed to share any errors or problems I have with the game. Of course, by far not the oldest fan, as I was born in 93' so when it came out in 96' I was still very young. But personally the game that hits home most for me is C1. It was the game I played most and I am quite proud to say its my favorite even if its not the most popular I'm glad I can be able to join you all in this very fun place. It's good to see new people here! =^_^= Dr. Shee   Bearthing   11/16/2012 I ought to introduce myself, since I've posted here a few times. I'm Bearthing and C3/DS just about the only game I play obsessively anymore; I love how, despite the fact it's 10+ years old, y'all are making new content for it almost weekly. You just don't find that in any other community (except for, perhaps, Sim City 4) and it really speaks volumes about everyone here. I also enjoy the game because it constantly surprises me, even though I've been playing it on and off since I was a kid -- just today my CFEm Fallow norns all decided that "rest leaf" was the appropriate way to deal with sleepiness. Sigh! The cuties. I really have no goal in C3/DS. I have a world for all play-styles: Nornherd is my all-CFEm Fallow world, for example; The Bunker is my genetic experimentation world; The Orphanage is where I lovingly raise SERU norns for eventual adoption; The Nornger Games are my SERU rejects, taught to be aggressive; AlphExperiment I and its sequels are just 24-generation semi-feral runs, starting with 6 random norns/3 of each gender. And those are just a few! I personally wish I could make metarooms or breeds, but I don't think I have the patience to learn. I have a lot of ideas, and I'm pretty good with Photoshop, but other than that... As for interests outside of Creatures: I read about a book/graphic novel a week, sometimes two. I'm currently at university, trying to get a creative writing degree, so regardless of whether or not it's for an assignment I try to jot something down daily. I don't watch much TV, but I do have a certain few favorite television shows -- none of which are family friendly, so I won't repeat their names here. Other Bearthing-related material: nature documentaries and nature in general, food, tabletop RPGs (D&D and the like), human/civil rights, minority representation in the media. Anyway, hello! Don't care; I'm a bear.   vampir-maniac     11/16/2012 Hii~ everyone! Ah I totally missed this topic so I guess I'll have introduce myself now after commenting here and there. I only started playing Creatures (2 & 3) again last month, since my short encounter with it when I was 12/13 years old. I had no idea as to what on earth was happening in the game haha, so I had the sudden urge to pick it up again this year... Currently I'm on holiday so I have quite a bit of time but I doubt I'll be able to play much once university starts again, as I am doing a double major in criminology and psychology. Perhaps that's also why I like Creatures as their digital DNA/neural systems is interesting to me ^_^ that, and the fact that I love to nurture things haha. Anyway, I also draw as a hobby (check my profile for website if you want) and I really want to design my own breeds/cobs/metarooms if I have time but I have yet to try actual digital art. I also don't know how to code @_@. My other interests include animals & nature (esp cats!), politics, reading, photography, music (metal/post-hardcore), anime, religion, culture..uh yeah. I also used to play a lot of horror games like Silent Hill and oh, I loved Vampire: the Masquerade - my username is inspired by my love for old school vampire literature. Great to have you both in the forums. - Rascii   Shawn   11/28/2012 Hello! I'm new. My name is Shawn (obviously) and I played Creatures... I'd say when I was 10-13. I can't remember. Mid to late 90's! I was completely obsessed with it despite having no idea what the heck was going on. I just knew I loved breeding them and the obsession with genetics carried on between this, Petz, and onto The Sims 1-3! I was reminded of this magical game from Reddit, I believe. Someone posted something about Creatures 4 and I went nuts. I wasn't too happy about the looks of Norns right away but they've grown on me. Besides, who can resist FREE? Anyway, I bought Creatures 1, 2, and 3 about 3 or 4 days ago and Nostalgia just punched me right in the face. Anyway, to give a little more info on me, I work tech support and adore video games if I get time off. Especially ones like these. Years now. XD I first started by playing Docking Station when I was little then my parents bought me Creatures 3 and the breed packs as a gift one year. I'm Libby, I like mice and plush, and gengineering Norns. My birthday is December 23rd and I am Canadian, eh. I started playing Creatures when I was five years old when my mum got me and my siblings Creatures 1. I fell in love with the Brown Mouse Norns, and since have come to gain in my possession more or less all the games, and I've been scouring the internet for Norndolls. I'm definitely no newbie to the game, but I can honestly say this is my first step in the community. I honestly had no idea that the community was still ongoing, until I stumbled upon Norngirl's deviantART profile, and she kindly got me started here. I must say, this is the most welcoming and friendly community I've seen in all my days, everyone seems so nice and fun! So, I guess that's all for now, I hope I can really become part of the CC!
