Sorry, no release yet, Karias. There still isn't a set release date either, but many of us are optimistic that it will be around summer/autumn! Last word was that it was being alpha tested internally at Fishing Cactus. Let's hope we see some more news soon!

Thanks! And here I thought through my absence, maybe with a miracle, they'd release it, haha.

No, but you can tell they're working hard and not rushing it. |

Looks like we might have some exciting news to look forward to very soon! Fishing Cactus responded to someone's post on Facebook regarding alpha testing:
Alpha testing is behind us. Expect some quite important milestone blog update within a week or so. (It's tied to a press release that will be circulated by publisher so we have to wait a little bit before posting it.)

Here's a french article with a picture I don't remember seeing:
Découverte à l'E3
«Le retour en ligne d'un classique»
The article it links to says that the upper creature limit will be 26, but that will be subject to change.
(Hmm, perhaps this should be moved to the News section?) |

I'm not sure I get it, is there going to be an offline mode or were they talking about the previous games?
Oh! And we'll be able to take care of 26 norns at the same time, that's not bad at all!

Soo it's now October and I don't think we've heard a peep out of FC since the live stream.
WHERE ARE THE UPDATES?

Hm I haven't seen that news about october, I guess I missed something.
I saw part of the stream, they still have a lot to do it seemed to me, but it's looking pretty.

There is a discussion over there now about how frustrating the lack of communication is. Seems like Sophie is responsive to it, but now that it's just her and no Pascal, I wonder if we'll see anything.
The kitchen spam on the official forum is ridiculous. I've contacted BigBen and bothered them multiple times, and they've supposedly been working on a solution for over a month. Just seems like they're slow and not really concerned with the fact that 99% of new topics are spam. There hasn't been much of a discussion since the live session.
I'm still trying to stay optimistic about Creatures Online, yet it's really hard to stay positive when it's rarely on my mind!

Haha I suppose it is August. I should probably go back to elementary school and retake that course on months of the year.

Yeah, I noticed a game similar but only in breeding called strangelings. I complained to the creator of the game because I wanted to restart with some fresh strangelings and I couldn't. He said there was no restart as it wouldn't be fair. Also he suggested getting new ones at the auction house on website. You have to pay real money for auction house items. Sorry, just partially venting rage and hoping creatures won't be similarly stringy with cash and force us to buy things. |

There's an article here here about Creatures Online, translated from Italian, which gives an overview of the current state of the game. |

Here is the article mentioned by C-Rex above. Seems there was a little issue with the commands, but no worries!

The release date of Creatures Online has been kept quiet ever since the last delay, and now we're looking at just an iOS release to start off with. No one has really answered any questions regarding the release date, although there was an interesting response on Facebook:
Jan Adams Pak: Any chance of being ready for Christmas or New Years
Creatures Online: Hi Jan Adams, I'm sure the #Creatures developers will be ready before Christmas or New Year
I wouldn't read too much into it, but it's the first time I've seen concrete evidence that the game is (supposedly) ready for iOS release by the end of this year. Call me cynical, but deadlines haven't exactly been met in many cases and it's difficult to say that this is a certainty. So... Yay?

To be fair they could have very easily met all their deadlines if they didn't care about the product and produced something crap for a quick cash in. I'm thankful that they care and are working hard to make something that they themselves say is much better and more advanced/complex then the original vision. vuv

I'm not sure how it can be more advanced as a browser game... But you've got a point, at least they aren't rushing it out the door. |

Exactly my thought. I'm still a bit concerned about this whole coin stuff. Reminds me too much of a facebook game.
But I have to admit, the norns are totally adorable and the graphics are very nice. I guess, I would still play it, even if it was just one of those fb games. |

I agree! I like their fluffy fur, and that there's a greater variation in shapes and sizes. |

I kind of fell off the radar on the CO front for a while out of boredom.
"It's coming out! .. No wait, just give a sec.." "It's coming out now!! ...Wait actually no.." "No it's coming out NOW! ..Nope..."
Okay... thanks for that mess around, here's where I quit taking their release dates seriously. I get that they want to make it perfect, but even when I glimpse the updates it feels so dramatically... app-ish. I don't take it seriously at this point.
I'd just so love if Creatures was back in the hands of those who originally made and built it, but I honestly think this series is too precious to me to see it condensed right down into a command-filled, microtransaction-based, "do this, do that, fulfill this list of duties" Facebook app.
Creatures, to me, was always the very opposite of that, to the extent where I can't see it the same.. now..
It was this insanely exciting "Here's your eggs, here's some rich, diverse, lush world - NOW DISCOVER! HAVE AT IT!" That, to me, was WOW.. massively exciting. I think those days have long been squashed under the foot of this set menu standard gaming has become where all app games are basically the exact same.
I know, of course, that with CO - like most other game apps - the tutorial pop-ups (or our modernized Shee in this case! *weeps*) either lessen or leave you alone after a while, and you are eventually granted more free reign over your world, but even then... the "Share this on Facebook!", etc..
As you can see, I'm more pessimistic now than I was before.
