I notice a lot of interesting usernames around here. So, tell me the story of how you came up with it! I'll start! :>
Mine is really old. A long time ago, I went by rose_mist1 on Neopets when I was a wee 14 year old. I found out how to make multiple accounts on there and I joined an anime guild on my side account, panda_mist. People started calling me Panda, which I found to be cute. I began using Panda-mist for my Deviantart, then when I joined here, and many other places.
What does it mean? I really don't know. I literally just took a random word that had mist at the end like my old Neo username.
I mostly go by it and Pann now, though at times in the past my username would sometimes be Pandakitsune. This was when I still drew my character representing me as a fox girl. Now she is a feathery shapeshifter named Pann.
So, tell me all about yours, guys! I'd love to hear.

Oh my. Here we go. XD
When I first joined the internet, my username was wolf_tamer and I only ever used it on Neopets. My e-mail back then was wolf_lord or something with a number at the end.
After we moved off of Okinawa the first time and moved to SC, I was starting middle school and I changed my online alias to oki_neko because I missed my home and my IRL nickname is Kat. Neko means cat in Japanese. Seemed to fit.
Then, we moved back to Okinawa and I changed my alias again to Katsuneko, shortened it to Katsune and when I got sick of that (I still think it sounds stupid) I decided to make my online alias more masculine sounding by changing it to Kezune. Back then, I pronounced it Keh-zoo-neigh. The Japanese way to pronounce it. XD These days, I pronounce it "Kay-zoon", a more English pronunciation.
Fun fact, I discovered that Kezune is the name of one of the dogs in Oblivion. I was Kezune before I got Oblivion. CLEARLY they took my idea.

That's really cool, Kezune! This whole time I've been pronouncing your name the Japanese way, I hope that's okay!
It seems we've all had a fair share of a silly username at least once in the past. My other long dead Neopets usernames were pichu_power and pika_surf, haha! Pokemon names.

Mine was just the name of the main character of a story that I was working on when I first started playing creatures 2. |

lisha777

8/4/2013 | |
(This was a long time ago so i'm not sure if this is right or not... xD) My very first username was I think on club penguin! I was 777Ruby I still go on there sometimes.
I don't think I ever used 777ruby again after that though...
Maybe a year or less after club penguin I started playing rune scape when I was about 7! I have been a crazy computer girl all my life... xD My dad was the first one to play it and he let me start it. That was when I first used the name lisha777... I'm pretty sure the name Lisha came from me and my sister when we use to play with toys together or something. Me or her I think had a toy named that... But its funny I don't really remember how I came up with Lisha. xD When my dad asked what I want my name to be on rune scape I said lisha. I think he might have been a tiny bit surprised I came up with a unique name fast. It was him that suggested I add the 777 to the end of it so it was less likely to be taken.
So yeah... There is my story on my name!
I hope it all makes sense, its really late and I need sleeeep... Should have done this in the morning, but oh well!
Oh! And nearly forgot to mention, I have started using the username Amradel instead of Lisha777 now...
I like it because it pretty much elvish and pretty much never taken! Since I half made it up.
I almost didn't want to stop using Lisha777 though since I had been using it since I was only like 7...

That's really cool Lisha. :> I wish I'd been able to use the computer more when I was a kid, but we had a really old computer that didn't work too well, nor hooked up to the internet at all. Amradel is also a nice name.

Panda, I don't mind. I've heard people on other sites I visited pronounce my name all sorts of ways. If they aren't sure, it's normally shortened to "Keh-zoo" or just Kez for short. XD

|
8/4/2013 | |
Weeell, mine's got a bit of back story to it, so brace yourselves.
My mum grew up with a fairly common name, and she hated it. As a result, me and my siblings have some pretty strange names. Now, growing up with a name like Trellis doesn't seem that bad, but after a while you get tired of being called the wrong thing. Tellis, Chellis, Chalice, ugh. Nobody ever gets my name right. You have no idea how many times I've wished I had a nice, proper name like Mamie or Jenny or something. Didn't have any nicknames to speak of other that my parent's embarrassing pet names, either.
So when I first started out on the internet, I decided I'd give myself a nickname, and nobody would ever question it. So I started on a MMO as Nicole, or Nikkie for short. After I joined a different site, I took on the name Gwen. I was Gwen for a good year or two, until I was somehow branded with Thirza. Then came Terri, then Sammy. Then I got into the Creatures community, and took on the name LibbyNorn, or Libby. Then came Lily, and subsequently, Darby.
Now, Darby has the most history, since it was Haven that gave me that name. She came home from the dentist, after getting a bunch of teeth pulled, and ran up to me and hugged me, saying "Darby, Darby! I gof toof furry mo-ee!" She was still almost entirely numb. She was trying to say Trelby, but it came out garbled. It stuck.
So there ye have it. From what I gather, Gwen, Sammy, Libby/Lily, and Darby were the most popular. So now that you've hear them all, which do you like? ![[nlaugh] [nlaugh]](/images/smilies/emot_laugh.gif)

Kappsune

|
8/4/2013 | |
Ah yes, Kappsune. Probably the weirdest username I've used, but I like it.
When I first started out on the internet I was pretty young so my usernames always had something to do with my dachshund, Weenie. The most common out of them was Weenie1. After a while I relized it was pretty simple, and wanted to change it. I've used a few rodent related usernames such as RodentBuddy or RodentBuddy1 (my old Club Penguin name) because at the time I had a strong interest in mice and hamsters.
I've always been interested in Japanese culture and mythology so I started to use the name Manekineko, or sometimes Lucky_Cat. After a year or so using that, I again got bored of it.
A couple of years ago, my sister finally talked me into making an account on a site called Chicken Smoothie. I wasn't expecting to go on that site very much so I made a username containing two of my favorite Japanese creatures of mythology, Kappsune (pronounced cap-soon, sometimes cop-soon.) A mix of Kappa and Kitsune.
To my surprise I found myself on that site a lot, resulting in me using it for most things on the internet. |

Well, mine's really boring... I just messed around with NIMH labs to make it sound like "Nimh" was a mad geneticist. (Nimh, from the book "The rats of nimh".) I'm thinking of coming up with something else... I also go by Nimh24, with more or less twos and fours, since my brain always colours 2 yellow and 4 purple, and I like the contrast, so 24 is my favorite number! twenty-four *sighs happily*

Rha

|
8/4/2013 | |
Well, I'm using Rha since a year or two ago, it comes from Rha Tuyokee which I got from a name generator for Sangheili(an alien species from Halo) names, so I've used Rha Tuyokee for a few years, then when I found out someone was using that name on facebook and uploading creepy furry art I changed to just Rha or similar.
My first user names were Miharu Akimoto or Miharu, also from a name generator, putting in my own name and gender. Even so, I only saw Miharu used as boy names.
My first email account was something like 'godess of death', referring to Duo Maxwell from Gundam Wing, who would call himself 'god of death'.
Ah, all these (embarrassing) memories..

"Grendel Man" was a username I made up when I first tried MySpace years ago. I had one of those flash pet things and I needed a name to put into the adopter's name option, so I came up with a rather self-explanatory name (I'm a male who is really fond of grendels). I gave up on MySpace shortly afterwards, but the name I made up lived on, and I used it when I finally stopped lurking and joined the Creatures community. It's been my Creatures-related username ever since.

Ilaezha

|
8/4/2013 | 1 |
Online I used to be Lady Marava. When I was like nine I wrote a short story with a character named Rava, which I made up and loved. I also had a fish called Martin who I also loved. I combined Martin and Rava and got Marava. After using that a while I put "Lady" in front of it because I really liked the sound of it. That was when I was twelve or so. LadyMarava was also my username on deviantArt.
Then I disappeared from the Creatures Community and started really focusing on my art and future career as a creative. My personal project I've been working on for over three years now (started in January 2010) is that I'm designing a planet complete with a bunch of species and humanoid inhabitants called Ilaezhins. I've got a whole alphabet, language, plants, animals, geology, culture, you name it, that I'm working on for this project. I have big ideas for it someday. But to put it simply, Ilaezha is the name of the planet. It actually is spelled Ilæžá (eye-LAY-zhuh - the "zh" is like the S in "treasure" ) but I wanted people to be able to pronounce my username, so I kept it simple.
Ilaezha is unique enough that nobody else should have it since I made it up. I'm on deviantArt with that username and will probably use it or SCWinterrose for the rest of my life. |

Nutter

|
8/4/2013 | |
Aw, my name feels all boring after reading about all these! I've been Nutter on the net since I first went on it in about '97, and was given it as a nickname by my supervisor at the time. He'd had the idea that I was all prim and proper - don't know where he got that idea - and one day I'd done or said something that made him realise how wrong he was. He looked at me in shock and said, with a mixture of amazement and awe, "You're a ****ing nutter!" and the name just stuck. (He was significantly eccentric himself, so this was something of a compliment!)
It's probably worth pointing out to non-UK residents that "nutter" here has nothing to do with biscuits! It's a colloquial term for someone who's a bit mad, in an unpredictable and possibly dangerous way. It can be used endearingly, but it doesn't have to be. |

That sound really cool, your project! I do advice you don't mention it too much on deviantart if you're really putting your heart in it, there's just so many cases of art and idea theft and I keep seeing it happen to so many people I follow : ( Enough for me to erase almost anything I had on it. I'm going to follow you though, liking your style.

Hmm let me see where to start with this story. When I was little I started out on Webkinz as katiedadog26 a mix of my cousin, grandpa, and the word dog. That was where I lurked around chat rooms except when my friends pestered me into there virtual homes. Then I lost interest in Webkinz after I left and came back and they deleted my acount which had over 20 wajas... So I went to club penguin and tried rosemary26 cause I liked the name rosemary for some random reason I enjoyed rosemary; 26 was my birthday. Then I started watching anime and I loved it and Japanese culture. So I tried okami26, JM26, demon26, beastly26, amistad26, bluewolf26, wolfdemon26, snoopy26.
All those were cause of songs, my name, anime, wolves. Then finally I got on fanfiction and at first was a very terrible writer and used youkai26. Later; a long time later I grew into my name youkaihybrid26 which has stuck ever since. It is pronounced Yo-kay-hybrid not how my family says it you- kay- hybrid. I still have a few of those old account but most have been deleted. So most likely no one will steal my name it is to odd. x)
Just your neighborhood Youkai dropping by =)

KittyTikara

8/4/2013 | |
My username has a boring story behind it. I was Amy1993 on Neopets for ever, and I think I got that name from Sailor Mercury. A few years later I was on GaiaOnline, and I wanted to change my username. I wanted the name Tikara, but that was taken. So I just put Kitty in front of it, and have used KittyTikara since then. I'm usually KittyTikara, or Tikara elsewhere as well.

I used a variety of nicknames/usernames before Isis.
I too was on Neopets for a long time, and I had a username that was sort of like a merging between my first and last name. And of course, was with everyone it seems, I had about 2435675432 Neopets accounts because I kept forgetting my birthday I put in the dang site (I used a fake one back then because my parents made me do it) so there were many variations of the original username, once even I used my dog's name. xD Well, then Webkinz came into play. While my first one was the cocker-spaniel, whom I named Poga (female version of my friend's cocker spaniel's name, Pogo) I eventually obtained the love puppy pet for Valentines Day from my mother, which I named Lola. I then started using Lola for a lot of sites, but after a while I got bored with it. I don't know, it just didn't seem that exciting. Well, eventually on Neopets I adopted a blue Lupe, which I needed a name for. I asked my dad what would be a good name for the lupe, and he responded "Isis" but spelled it "Iceis" for it's icy color. Thats when I was like, "Ooh, I like that name." I play a few mythology games, and I've always had an interest for Egyptian mythology. So after a while, I learned of Isis and I still liked the name. So then, my sister and I created a random story revolving around Spyro (The Legend of Spyro series) out of boredom, and I created my dragon, whom I named Isis. After a while I started using Isis as my name everywhere, so that's how it's been for a while now. :3 And yes, it is pronounced "ice-iss" not "iz-iz". I also go by Issy, and sometimes Izzy. Once, I went by Lexi, changing it every now and then to "Lexis" then back again. XD Rather long and random story, haha!
Apparently, I like four letter names. ![[nlaugh] [nlaugh]](/images/smilies/emot_laugh.gif)

What I was 11, I went by Karias22. 22 was just a favorite number at the time, Karias was a severely stretched adaptation of the name of a boy I had a crush on back when I was 9, I pretty much changed a couple letters to some of my favorite letters. Ever since then, it's been the username I use for anything that doesn't require my "RL" life to be involved.
It's a pretty short story compared to some of you guys Before the Creatures Community the only other things I ever needed an alias for were playing games like Age of Empires online, so, Karias is a longtimer for me. Almost 11 years.

Zurinsel13

|
8/5/2013 | |
Well I've got my username Zurinsel13 a long time ago when I was playing games by Sierra like Pharao; Stragedy simulation games and I came up with the name Zuri. I have no idea how I found that name, but my eldest sister really liked it and asked me, why I don't make Zurinsel out of it . Zurinsel is actually 2 words combined together, it means to the island in german ;D ( zur = to , insel =island ).
I really liked it a lot and started on Neopets as Zurinsel13, on Gaiaonline, deviantart, tumblr, on creatures of course , but then I combined it with my favourite number 13. And since then it has always been Zurinsel13.

My main username story is not much of a story really. It's just a feminized version of the name of one of my characters' name. He was one of my first characters and i wanted to use his name because i couldn't think of anything better at the time, but i didn't want to be mistaken for a dude all the time, so i made it sound a bit more girly.
The end!
Now a days when i need a new username for a game i just make something up. XD

I've gone through several usernames.
The first was robomonkeyfan, because Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go! was my favorite show.
The second was ZimIsSoCool. Invader Zim was my favorite show then.
The third was AvatarFan, because I was obsessed with Avatar: The Last Air bender.
The fourth (if I remember correctly) was GiratinaGirl (Giratina is a Pokémon.)
My current username, GrayDragonEmily was thought of when I wanted a username related to dragons. I Googled EmilyTheDragon, but it was already being used on various websites, and I wanted something unique. Gray is my second favorite color, so that is why it is in my username.

The first ever username I used online was Neochaopokemon, which was when I first joined Neopets sometime in 2003. I no longer use Neopets (the last time I logged in with that account was 2005 I believe).
My next username was simply Neochao, which I used to register with Docking Station in early 2004. Sadly I never managed to get DS online for some reason, so it mostly went unused.
My current username, C-Rex, was originally going to be Ceratosaurus_Rex, but was too long (I think I actually tried making an account with that name, but wasn't able to log in with it). These days I either go by C-Rex, Scarletraven/Scarletraven2000 or Rexgamer. |

Really cool username stories here! I'll tell my username story now. I hope you guys like it.
Like many people I had various usernames. I'll start with my first one, Lembam(junior). It's a long history, but I'll do my best to make it as easy to understand as possible. Our family name starts with Lem. My aunt gave a nickname to my father years ago, and it was Lembam. A bit of a reference to The Flintstones, as I've been told. When we got an Internet connection in the '90s, the name became (sort of) a nickname for the whole family, and our family email address was based on that nickname.
I soon used that nickname on a whole bunch of websites. When I signed up for Neopets, I used Lembamjunior as my username instead (as a child in the family) and I continued using that name elsewhere on the Internet. Meanwhile, my father was using a different username based on his job (he is a bus driver).
However, when my parents divorced, my father wanted me to use a different username. My username became a mess too, as I used different variations with lowercase or uppercase, so I was fine with using a different username. I also discovered Lembam meant "slow learner" in a different language, and I didn't want to be associated with that. I was also getting older, so Lembamjunior didn't suit me anymore. Then it became eprillios, with a lowercase "e". It's just a random username, based on some traits from other languages, like Greek and Latin. I wanted to be consistent with my username, using all lowercase, to avoid the mess that developed with my old username.
I see Neopets gets mentioned a lot in the stories.

I got my very first computer. 300 MHz, 128 MB RAM or something. It never had been able to boot with windows, so I got ubuntu. Ran quite stable and all. Not quick, but you could not expect that of such a machine.
I was experimenting with GIMP, deeply impressed that this snail of a PC could handle it at all. Filters needed a bit long, but hey, they worked.
Anyways, I needed some kinda picture to SEE what filters do in the first place. Many of them do not work on a blank canvas. So I used this random pepper brush that is included in GIMP.
After a while I gave it eyes, just for fun.
Some time later I decided to give it a name. I went for something with little creativity and combined the words "Paprika" (German for "bell pepper" ) and "Riko" (a male name, not mine, though). Papriko was born.
I did not have a "fixed" nickname for internet stuff at that time, so I thought "why not pap?". You see the result.
I think CCaves even was the first page where I "officially" used it at.

My only reason for my nickname being Charity is I've always loved that name ever sense I was 4, I had no idea what the word even meant back then... I don't even remember hearing the word before then!
