I am curious, how is everybody enjoying Ask Laura since it reopened? If you have a moment, please take the time to vote?
Poll: Ask Laura Feedback
I am always looking for new ways to spice up Ask Laura, and make it more entertaining for users to read, so please feel free to post some constructive criticism or ideas, if you have any.
Or maybe you're completely happy with how it's run. Perhaps I've posted a response to your question that you've enjoyed? I'd love to hear from you.
I never really receive any feedback, apart from the very occasional PM, so it'll be good for me to see what everyone thinks.
Thanks! |

Scoota94: Thanks, it means a lot to me that you enjoy it so much. I feel inspired to write more when I get such lovely comments, and I find it helps me keep my creative writing skills in check (I'm on a break from an English and Creative Writing BA course at university).
Ghosthande: Hehe yeah, I liked that one - it was fun to respond to! |

Just wondering, the ask laura column is, well for lack of better description BIG and I was thinking that categories would be handy. Of course I realise this may be difficult to do and time consuming but was curious to know if anyone else thought the same

Thing is, because the archive is so large (over 1,000 questions) there would be a lot of categories and it probably would take a time to categorise them all.
However, there *is* the Ask Laura Search Feature, if you weren't already aware of it. You can search keywords by Name, Question or Response. This way, you can kinda search by category, if you get me - for example, if you do a search using terms like "love", or "kisspop", by Question or by Response, it will most likely bring up some of the love/relationship related questions.
You can also access the search feature on the main Ask Laura page via the 'Search for Advice' link, which is situated underneath the 'Submit a Question' form. |

What do you mean by spaces? |

Gumbo

|

like reserving a space for a question, like a set number of spaces for each batch of questions, and you can reserve one question at a time
if you decide to implement this, i got first

That's an interesting idea, but there's no set limit in place as to how many questions can be submitted at any one time - I've had 119 questions awaiting responses when I've been on a hiatus before.
Plus, I don't tend to answer the questions in the order they're submitted in, or answer them straightaway. |

Yes, sorry, I have been busy with other things, such is life. Anyway, I've updated Ask Laura again, in case anybody wants to have a read.
Also, get your question caps on, because the column could really do with some fresh, interesting and imaginative questions - those are the ones that are more fun to respond to. |

Thats great!
I've always wondered but, when someone puts forward a question can you tell who it is?

I'm pretty sure the IP address is visible so spammers or rude people can be blocked.
That must mean Laura knows who posts the boring questions and who posts the interesting ones! (We need more of the latter though)

No, everyone's still welcome to submit what questions they like, (so long as they meet the column's criteria - i.e. No help forum-style or technical questions) just want to encourage people to be creative, because it can be so much fun.
Daily problems are still rife in Albia, and onboard the Shee Ark, and the opportunities to dish out advice to those dilemma-stricken Norns, Grendels, Hands and Shee are endless! |

By the way, I thought of something but I'm not sure if its possible?
When Ask Laura is updated with new posts then maybe a (New) sign can appear next to Ask Laura in the menu? And when it isn't allowing submissions a (closed) sign can appear? What do you think?

Doesn't checking the Ask Laura page achieve the same thing? Not saying it's a bad idea though, Rascii would need to implement it. |

Yeh, If people see the (closed) thing they may be less encouraged to look at it so maybe not

Thanks ratkinzluver!
Ask Laura has been updated again. I've been suffering from chronic writer's block lately, so these latest responses probably aren't some of my best. Still, I hope you all enjoy reading them.
Also, don't worry about adding "Dear Laura," and "- <your name>" when you write your question. The column's script adds those bits automatically.
