Norn Torture via C-Rex on 12/30/2012 | 27 votes Are you against Norn Torture?

I don't personally do it a lot anymore (Excluding the occasional game of "How much can I mess with this norn"), but it used to be my method of "Culling" off norns, because I hadn't figured out the population controls yet. I don't begrudge people who do, however, and I sort-of wish I had the sense to put the c12ds weeds in my worlds more often, as a hazard. (I always get population booms and drops unless I wait until the entire first gen has died before hatching the next.) I suppose in my case it's more like, "No, they're plentiful lab-rats."

I don't think it really matters but I do hate it when I introduce people to Creatures and the first thing they do is slap a norn to death. That's not the point of the game!!! Argh, noobs!! DX

Norn torture says more about the torturer the person/animal/thing tortured though, doesn't it? Norns may not be 'real' but torturing them is akin to pulling the wings off flies.

Well if anyone doesn't care, feel free to say so in rhe comments.

I don't think it's an issue about whether they're real or not, though. I think it's really an issue about whether you think it's humane to torture Intelligent creatures, whether they're real or not. As it stands, though, the poll doesn't allow for much expression on the voter's part. There's no middle ground. I don't 'torture' norns for kicks, but I'm not above pumping creatures full of cyanide to see if genetics worked in their favor. I just don't care either way.

Sorry for the lack of a "Don't care option", but I'm actually surprised at the results. I thought people had finally learned that Norns aren't real?

Actually, yeah. Where is the "don't care either way" option? I feel this way, too. It's not something that I do personally but I'm not going to begrudge someone else for slapping data around.

Usually I wouldn't really go against norn torture being someone who has seen the inner workings of a norn. Yes, they make decisions and can learn but they don't have anything that makes them truly real. You won't be seeing norns escaping your computer anytime soon!

Yeah, I file this under 'don't care either way.' I personally don't do it, however, because Norns are just so dang cute and I'd feel bad.

Where's the "don't care either way" option? That's pretty much my stance on norn torture.
