I almost put this in the C2 genetics or download hunt threads but there is JUST enough information out there to warrant a new one. This is about lost & under-discussed C2 brain architectures and not general lost breeds.
What were the Adroit Norns? I had never in my almost 2 decades' Creatures web experience read this name before last night. I found it while researching C2 brain design attempts on AGC and they appear to not have ever been called complete and were distributed initially via e-mail. These were made by Cuff Droppin of Hive-Mind Ettins (not lost) fame. I searched geocities.ws & archive.org but could not find any mention or downloads.
The AGC search (above) is missing some posts but turns up just enough of a hint of how they worked:
- Apparently did well in wolfling runs (beat NS and tied Canny)
- Brain design not based on Canny or Nova Subterra (But mentions Cannies' Sex Drive Increase in a hypothetical about sex drive counting as a drive that punishes drive-aware norns, so the biochem part may share traits even if the brain doesn't)
- Had 4 new lobes, count was later reduced by 2, had at least 1 known new lobe left: Imagination, which uses 2 brain chemicals
- Imagination lobe takes input from Perception lobe and "imagines all possible concepts" to be read from by the Concept lobe.
What's fun about a totally lost breed? I cracked open Cuff Droppin's Hivemind Ettins, which do not appear to have the "Imagination" workflow, and in fact have the Canny Search, Choice, and Echo, but do have a colossal perception lobe for a COB-facilitated system for recognizing individual creatures and more. The top-left lobe (#11) is for the pheromone system. I'm hyped to play with the Hiveminds and their COB some more.
This scant amount of info gave me a hugely different angle to look at my brain attempts with, so I thought other C2 players would like to see it.
If you find more info on the Adroits' development or want to rave about other forgotten brain architectures, please share here! |
