Survivor!?!

Is that a Survivor banner I see on the front page? I joined the community too late to be in it the last time it was held, and I've wanted to do it since.

ps. I haven't played Monster Raannnrrrnnchhdoggy

*gasp* YAY! Survivor's back!

Survivor is (supposed to be) an annual game where a number of CC members (12? 16? Can't remember...) pretend they've been shipped off to a deserted location for a number of weeks. They're supposed to keep track of their (made-up) adventures in a journal. Every X days, other CC members get to vote off one member until only one survivor is left.

...The game's pretty fun, but I might sit this round out. I recall being pretty effing useless during the last game.

You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there.

Survivor freaks me out.

By the way, I don't care if anyone steals my ideas for their own work, as long as you don't try to stop me from making my own stuff. Many ideas I mention are things I don't have the time or skill to actually do.

Now that everyone's had some time to ponder the image on the homepage, I think the official announcement should come:

SURVIVOR GAME 4 BEGINS JULY 1, 2008!!!

Here are some quick facts:
- 12 people can be on the island, and the joining process is first come, first served. So if you want to make it on the island you may want to be online at 12:00 PM EST (around 17:00 in the U.K. I suppose and who knows what time in Aussie land.

)
- Karias will be running the Survivor Opinion Column, Message in a Bottle
- The Survivor forum will be returning when the game begins

I think that's enough for now. LET'S MAKE IT THE BEST COMPETITION YET!!! 8)

Doesn't look like you'll get many Aussies or Kiwis this year - on the east coast of Australia that's 3 am sharp on the 2nd of July. XP

so is this Creatures Survivor, or does it just take place within the CC? cus i can totally picture norns in teams and whatever else happens in that sort of thing..

It's a roleplaying game that's exclusive to the users of Creatures Caves - more than enough reason to take part in it methinks.

Officer-1BDI gave a good description of how it works in her post above.

I had the pleasure of taking part in the last game, and it was really good fun! I seem to remember my adventures involved a lot of swimming and exploring the island - I wish I could read my old diary entries.

Supporting your favourite contestant and creating festive Survivor-themed icons is always fun too. I wish I hadn't lost mine, it was pretty.

It had the C2 palm trees (complete with coconuts) as its background with my Treehugger Norn dressed in a grass skirt and a pink habiscus flower in her hair.

Personally, if I'd never had a go at Survivor before, I'd take part whilst I had the chance - we don't know when the next Survivor game (after this one) will be.

The really interesting thing is when people would go fan-crazy.. During our first game, there were often some banner holders who actually tempted new members into voting certain people off.. It was interesting, really

Though this behavior is no longer common, it did add a bit of drama. Through the more recent times, people are voted off by journal quality. If you tag along with the rest of the story, you stay.. I do love how some new things have made that easier.

Some things you could do to pass the time until July 1st:

- Create a festive Survivor-themed icon for yourself.

- Draw some Fan Art: Maybe of what you think the island could look like, perhaps of the wildlife that might inhabit there, or some scenes that you imagine could happen in the contest.

- Post some Survivor inspired stories or poems in the Writings forum.

- Discuss and speculate your ideas about this year's game with others. For example, what tasks do you think the contestants could be faced with?

These things, plus any anything else you can think of, would all help create some awareness for game 4 - we need to create some hype!

That's what time I usually go to sleep, personally. Plus this is a special occasion--I'm pretty sure you guys can stay up for it.

Plus I don't think there's really any time that would be good for everyone in the world. And all you have to do is log in, go to /survivor and click Join.

I have all of the old entries in databases so I'll put up a journal archive, both for everyone's entertainment and current players' reference.

Besides, if you're sleeping at 3 am... you might be able to log on when you finally wake up and still make it if there's a spot open. I learned that from making schedules in college on a "first come/first serve" basis...

I'm sure Rascii will be kind enough to make a waitlist if spots fill up but someone drops out reeeeally early before anything really starts, right? Cause in college they make waitlists for the really important classes...
