General Forum You know what we need?    Fairah      11/10/2007 You know what we need? A Creatures fanfiction archieve. I know we once had a geocities site called Albian Library, but that hasn't been updated in years. We need a new archieve. Kinda similar to fanfiction.net, but focusing solely on Creatures. Examples would be (I am NOT trying to advertise): http://www.idletheme.com/objection/index.php Or http://library.bulbagarden.net/ I'm not really trying to make proposals, for making sites like those do cost money. I'm just saying that I think that's what the Creatures Community needs next, or at least should have. Again I know we have fanfiction.net, which focuses on almost ANYTHING. But sometimes a site focusing solely on Creatures fanfiction is better. More people would get a chance to read your story, and you won't have people constantly bugging you by saying 'you're writing it in script form, that's a no-no'. Some people have to write in script form, we all start somewhere. Anyway, your thoughts please? Thy profile looks very much like that sword point, lurking in the shadows and darkness. But I would probably forget about it, and I don't have the money to host it... Nor do I have the coding skillz to make a 'library site'. :/ I'm not trying to force anyone, I'm just saying. I posted my Restoring The Balance story on Gameware forums, there was no people posting in the thread, they were making new topics and new posts in other topics. And after two days, the thread was pushed to another 'page'. This is one of the reasons why fanfictions in forums do not work well. And another point goes to archieves. The only one who knows your true heart are the forest spirits... ...Only the spirits....   Officer-1BDI     11/17/2007 The problem I have with forums like Gameware and A2K is that they don't have a separate subforum for fanworks, just for RPGs, so the chance of getting your work bumped off the page is horribly high while the chance of it actually being looked at seems relatively low. The problem I have with uploading fanfiction to forums in general is twofold: 1) word limits force you to break up the story if it's too long, disrupting the flow, and 2) reviews are often scattered between updates/chapters, which makes the whole thing rather messy. If someone were to make a fanfiction site (and I'm going to hate myself for admitting this, but I have to), I'd really like for it to act like ff.net in that people upload their stories/chapters, and then the submitted reviews are kept on a separate page. That's far beyond my current knowledge, though, and I'm not sure who in the community has the time and ability to invest into coding a site like the one I'm imaging. ETA: ...Hey, wait a minute. Objection! has a format very similar to the site that you posted, Crystal. Their skins were even created by the same person (although perhaps that's why they seem so similar to me...). Maybe there's a template out there we could use to build our own site off of? You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. Bulbagarden Library looks *very* similar to Objection!, the format is almost exact if you ask me. So there's probably a template. Where I am not sure though.
