Ever since I was little and got my hands on the instruction manual for Creatures 1, I have been trying to breed a super norn. The idea has always intrigued me and presented a challenge that I wanted to win. Lucky for me, I'm older and wiser now (maybe!) than when I was eight, and there are so many more options now for helping your norns along. (cobs, new breeds, etc.)
I am now fast approaching breeding my generation 3 norns after using the first two generations to produce as many as I possibly could. (Just over 500)
I wanted to have an extremely large gene pool, so I wouldn't have to add new blood very often. My first generation of norns totalled close to 150. Big thanks to everyone who has preserved all the C1 breeds and genetically modified norns. They gave me a good jumping off point for creating a norn that will be able to survive a true wolfling run (8 hours while I'm at work) and produce offspring without dying off before I check on them.
So, the first two generations were solely focused on production. This next generation will be about upping intelligence and survival of the fittest. Gen 1 and 2, I used a lot of fertility cobs and selective breeding. Gen 3 will be released into the world, trained on all three computers, and then left to breed on their own. I'm hoping to cut down on my population a bit by weeding out norns with weaker genetics. I have 62 groups of 8 norns that I will be releasing into the world. There will be half an hour between each of the eight released and I mixed them up so no siblings were in the same batch of eight. I'm expecting some pretty unique offspring.
Wish me luck. |
