I did try Creatures Village once upon a time. I remember it feeling simplistic, perhaps focused toward kids instead of just everyone.
Did anyone play it before? What are your thoughts about them?

Hmm, I played Creatures Village once or twice semi-recently.
Call me crazy, but I actually found it really hard to get used to as opposed to the main series games. No actual interface, no actual pause button, no way to communicate between you and your Norns... I mean, it's playable, just not playable in the sense that I'm used to.
Although, the games did have some neat features. The extreme effects of the seasons, for one. Having clothing to put on your creatures, just about everything about the Playground half of the game... Silly things like that.
Aside from what I mentioned earlier, some of my peeves with the game is the inability to select either the Cave "Norn" or the weird... alien thing, due to being classed as a Grendel and an Ettin respectively. There's also the fact that you can't really navigate around the world on your own, so you can give a hungry Norn food without having to drag them all the way back to an actual food source. There's also the population limit as well... although this may have been just to either cut down on overall CPU resources or keep things simple for kids, it feels kinda limiting. (Or maybe I'm too used to overpopulated feral-style worlds...) Furthermore, none of the creatures seem to be very expressive... although that was a common problem up until they made the Expressive genomes for the Creatures 3 breeds...
Also, the creepy tree on the Adventures half of the map. Curse that creepy tree.
Aaanyways, I kind of like Creatures Village, in a way. A weird, round-about way. I just do wish there was a way to tweak it to be more comfortable to play (that didn't involve copying bootstrap files over from C3/DS). Heck, there's not even an agent injector... Oh well. I'm sure someone's already made some sort of CA to C3/DS pack that will save everybody from that kind of hassle. |

I played CV when I was a kid, although I only had Creatures Adventures for what it's worth. I loved it right up until the point where the CD got scratched and it wouldn't install any more
I've thought about buying it again, but really all I did in that game was sit in the kitchen and bake cakes. I had even figured out a way to do it without having to have a Norn in there. I'd just spend hours baking cakes. Incredible.

I've played it a couple of times, and only first played a few years ago. I'm clearly out of the target age group! Ha ha! I thought it was very different, but still a fun little game. I had fun trying to figure out some of the puzzles, although there were some very frustrating parts. The Norns themselves seemed a little more goofy, which made some of them more endearing and others just annoying!
It's not a game I pick up regularly, nor do I ever play it consistently, but it's a fun change of pace every now and then. Since it was designed for a younger audience to get into Creatures, I think it accomplished that goal very well: It's very colorful and engaging, while at least introducing the concept of Norns and artificial life. Not a bad stepping stone for young players to get into the Creatures series... And also not a bad way for seasoned Creatures players to have a little lighthearted fun from time to time!

It was the first creatures game I ever played.
I was only about 7 or 8 when I first got it from a friend, (Nornynorn on here actually, the game wouldn't work on her computer back then) I never knew there was a whole series until a few years later.
But anyway I loved it! Now I prefer playing the more complex ones, but its still fun to go back to it sometimes.

Well I considered it more of a spinoff then a sequel. I dunno. I am glad to see at least it has a acceptance in the community. In a funny roundabout way anyway. I never really gave it a shot. I was at least 16 when I got it. It wasn't my cup of tea.
