Has anyone had a creature die in a weird way? Recently, a norn of mine in DS died from drinking too much C12DS coffee and overheating from it. I hid the coffee after that. It's sad how something she loved killed her.

I'm pretty certain the Voodoo Doll agent from Tera Pulvis (I think) can kill creatures, but I'm too afraid to test it...
ETA: I injected it for the grendel jungle in one world, and had a rash of creatures dropping dead for no apparent reason... |

This probably wouldn't count, but I once had a creature that died right when I picked it up to move it elsewhere. Poor little thing was starving for seeds and was refusing to move despite how much I urged it.

Still births, that is all.
It could be any vital gene that's been mutated that causes them to be born dead. |

My adult norns in the C3 Aquarium sometimes randomly get teleported to the west sea and drown there. For some reason those were all bengal norns or crossbreeds of them.
And of course still births, and magma norns being one shotted by the weakest illnesses, even in the hot ettin desert. Some of my norns died while I carried them to the medical bay, and others even after their treatment there...
Also, whenever I name a norn after myself, it's always the first one to die.
I mean... Why me!?

I just had a bunch of odd ones:
Norns failing the IQ test because the gene which normally reduces the "trapped" drive was instead reducing hunger for protein, causing them to get trapped in an infinite, door-pushing loop until they starved. |

I've had norns die of drowning even after they've been in air for about 10 seconds, several times, annoying.
I'm pretty sure only certain creatures, like gizmos, can die of overheating, so keep them away from those coffee pots! |

Creatures who sleep for so long they die of starvation - without being poisoned with sleep toxin... |

Missmysterics: Depending how long they'd been deprived of air, maybe it was organ failure? I've had C2 norns whose organs were in pretty bad shape by the time I pulled them out of the water.
The weirdest (or at least, most disappointing) deaths for me are the SERU norns that seem to be perfectly happy, active and healthy for a couple minutes after hatching, then suddenly drop. |

Sometimes my creatures just drop dead for no apparent reason. Best guess is undetectable toxins or organ failure from previous illness.
I've also had creatures die when I injected them with hotness chemical. It doesn't seem to affect Grendels, or at least not bog standard Jungle Grendels. |

Hmm I didn't think about that, half-drowned Creatures 2 creatures continued to take damage for a while after being taken into air.
It's probably the same in C3/DS but it's not actually visible. They don't faint, and there aren't ways to actually monitor the life of their organs |

I thought the Xray agent showed health of organs in C3DS? |

Thats a third party agent though isn't it? I should probably get it. |

One time I had a baby Norn who was exuberantly playing with this toy. And you know how usually they get overstimulated/tired if they do something a lot, and fall asleep? Instead of falling asleep, he just plain dropped dead where he was standing. D:

How could you even tell the difference? |

Short answer: SCIENCE.
Long answer: My norns should all be able to survive getting hit by small amounts of ATP decoupler, since they naturally produce small quantities of medicine one, and turn 1 ATP Dec. + 1 Medicine one -> 3 medicine one + 1 muscle toxin
So every hour, if I have no baby norns in the world, I've been running a scrip that hits every norn with 30 ATP decoupler. One of the norns dropped dead from cyanide poisoning. |

This thread is glorious. If one didn't know what "norns" were this probably sounds like a really terrible horror movie.

i don't imagine any of you remember my shenanigans with metallica the randomly dying chichi, but basically, i tried to genetically engineer a norn that lived longer, had a red and blue color, and I THIIINK was amphibious, and he used to have a fat allergy (later for why he used too). anyway, when he reached child stage, he randomly died for no discernible reason. i tried to keep him alive twice, the second time i removed the fat allergy. yet he dropped dead at child stage both times.
i think it had something to do with what i did to make him live longer, but i'm not sure. |

My fire norn hybrids seem to die a few minutes after they are born, almost every time. I have never figured out why, so if one of you knows, please explain it to me! |

Are the Fire Norn hybrids constantly hot? If they are then, more then likely, they are slowly using up their bodies supply of water and dieing. I suspect that this is how the fever toxin kills the Norns it infects, it causes them to basically sweat to death.
One of the breeds I'm working on was running in to the same problem. The only thing I know that you can do for them is keep them as cold as possible. (Two agents that do that are the iceflowers and this one here.)

I have to add my weirdest norn deaths. When I was breeding Toxic norns in the C2toDS room volcano - somehow my small Toxic norn population mutated to the effect they were basically walking zombies WHEN I tried to also introduce grendel genes into the gene pool. Not only did they not age or reproduce (no kisspopping ever) they did not die from ANYTHING either. Blunt force trauma, poisoning, illnesses caused by bacteria, healthy food, drowning, overheating, freezing.. I tried to kill them every way I could think of with no success. They never slept either.
Not only that but ALL of their organs were all dead and not working. (which is the only way I can figure the reason is that the libido stimulating toys and injections never made them kisspop..there were literally no organs alive to produce the chemicals to make them want to..maybe?) I eventually had to export them out and delete their files.
This is the same population that I had going and hinted to at the VERY beginning of my Confessions Of A Shee blog. XD The one you never got to see.
[edit] I forgot to add HOW I got the norns in the first place if they didn't reproduce. I began splicing the grendels in with the norns since they don't naturally mate together. I kept splicing when they still wouldn't kisspop.. at first I just thought it was because they were stubborn. When I realized it was because they couldn't anymore then I looked into the gene files and found everything I told you above. |

I think I just had that happen to one of my baby Gizmo norns... made me sad. He was having so much fun with the ball after he was hatched... I know he didn't starve, he just keeled over after a couple of minutes. He was generation 1 bengal so I know it wasn't any mutation.

Are you sure he didn't starve? Baby Gizmo norns need to eat pretty soon after being born or they starve to death. |

Yeah, I checked his nutrition and everything, i even had plenty of food over there, i saw him eat some, and they still take about 10 minutes to starve usually, this one died in under 5, and after eating at least once or twice.

That's pretty creepy, actual walking dead zombie norns (since they had some grendel in them they probably even craved norn flesh too)
