Population Control Methods

If you use population control methods in any of your worlds, what are they? In the world I'm currently working on, I use the Population Options (so only Norns at the adult lifestage can breed) and the Norn of Infertility. I also plan on keeping each egg in the inventory until there's another one, and then splice eggs together in the Supersplicer.

I gengineer my creatures to be less fertile, I change the threshold on the 'fertile recepors' from 50 and 48 to somewhere between 84 (half the normal breeding rate) and 128 (a third the normal breeding rate)

Though currently I'm using this on CFE gizmos, which are only fertile beginning at adult anyway.
I'd recommend changing it to 128 for those that are fertile since adolescence.

I also 'targ norn dead' creatures I feel aren't surviving well.

I like the sound of a genome change. In the current wolfling run I'm using the population control panel to restrict breeding to adults only, and export norns after they've produced 4 offspring. You still get a hard disk full of exported norns - but I'm thinking of using the splicer to sort those out.

I usually enjoy sending in dangerous items as a measure of population control.
Deadly dice for example.
However, your ideas all also seem really good!

I've been killing or exporting lower generation Norns in DS to let the higher generation ones breed with each other and to let more eggs hatch. Otherwise I don't use population control very much.

currently i go and export all of the norns over 5 hours old a couple times a day, last night i came home from work to find a bunch of immortals.
Does anyone have some norns which age to adult instantly, breed fast, but who only live for an hour?
I think that would be the best way to get high gen norns who are still naturally selected and get out of the way for newer gens quickly.

The aging and breeding parts are common mutations (try the "fastager" tag at The Creature Repository).

As for the lifespan, that would have to be deliberately engineered, and the simplest way would be to change the half-life of the Life chemical... to be honest I have a little trouble with half-lives though.
(I googled a half-life calculator and according to that, a default Chichi- Life HL of 15 minutes according to the official genetics kit- should only live half an hour or an hour and a half, depending on whether I put the concentrations in as a percentage or not. [nquestion] Eem confused.)

Maybe the the wiki's page on lifespans would help? At least it's been useful in the past for me.

Sexydance Norns become adult pretty fast, and they only live 1-2 hours from memory. Not exactly what you're looking for, but you could give them a try.

For my Wolfling Run I will use Norn of Infertility, have some dangerous Agents and hatch a Grendel couple for population control, adding dangers to the WR and simply because I like Grendels.
