OK, here goes.
I intend to try my hand at a wolfling run within the next week or so. It will take place in a docked world with a number of machines to smoothen the survival process but also add an element of chance with some artificial hazards. My plan so far:
Maximum 8 players.
Two rounds:
First round - an hour and a half
Second round - 5 hours OR until all the norns have died.
Each player starts off with 2 NORNS. You pick 1 BREED from group A and 1 BREED from group B.
Group A:
Bruin
Bengal
Civet
Chichi
Group B:
Astro
Zebra
Siamese
Harlequin
Fallow
Please make aure your combination is different to everyone else's. It's okay for two people to have bruins for example, if one has Bruin/Astro and one has Bruin/Zebra. But they can't both have Bruin/Astro or Bruin/Zebra. Capiche?
One must be male and one must be female, but which way round is up to you. Name them as you wish
So there will be 16 norns in total: 2 for each of the 8 players. The 16 will be divided between 4 STARTING POINTS. The starting points are as follows:
Learning Room
Upper Bridge Level
Lower Desert Level
Aquarium Beach
All four points will be well stocked, but everyone will have one norn in either the Learning Room or the Upper Bridge Level, as these will be the two most hospitable nurseries.
If there are less than 8 players, the norns will still be divided fairly according to how many there are.
As well as the player's norns, there will also be 5 HOUSE CREATURES (like the house robots in robot wars ). These will be as follows:
2 Hardman norns (starting point - the jungle)
1 Jungle Grendel (""
1 Banshee Grendel (""
1 Ettin of Minimordor (starting point - Desert Volcano)
As with Nutter's run, ALL CREATURE OFFSPRING WILL BE ASSIGNED TO THE MOTHER'S PLAYER. This includes the house hardman norns, so if one of your male creatures mates with the female hardman, the offspring will be a house creature and not yours. Sorry guys!
Once the time runs out and round 1 is over, anyone whose norns have completely died off is automatically OUT. All players with norns/offspring remaining progress to ROUND 2...
At the beginning of Round 2, each player receives another norn. The breed of this norn will be determined by the amount of creatures you have left. My outline so far is that the player with the least creatures receives a bondi norn, the player with the most recieves a toxic norn, and everyone else recieves either a magma or a treehugger. This is sort of intended to level the playing field, but the toxic norn may prove a reward as well as a challenge, as the world will be stocked with toxic agents to make it more hazardous to regular creatures. If everyone has roughly the same amount, there may not be any toxic norns, but there will still be the toxic agents. The toxic norns and the bondi norns are basically reserved for the odd player who is way ahead or straggling behind.
Although you can't choose the breed of your round 2 norn, you are still welcome to name it when I commence the next round.
Your new norn will be placed with the YOUNGEST of your existing creatures.
I will be running this run on my dad's powerful work computer, and setting it up within the next week. I won't be running a livestream but I'll take screenshots of interesting events when I catch them (I'll probably be working at the same time so I might miss a few) and update this post regularly with an overview of the action.
For a much more detailed account of events, I will be using my all-purpose livejournal: http://piccadillyo.livejournal.com/
Please excuse the crappy old fanfics X]
I will also be posting details of the world on there, including the machines, the ecology and plenty of screenshots.
Lastly, if anyone has any doubts about this working or tips on how to make it better, please let me know and I will edit this accordingly.
For now, go ahead and choose your norns |

I love it that I appear to have raised the bar on wolfling complexity. 16 norns is far more sensible, though! |

Hey all I will be starting my wolfling run shortly, most likely tonight (unless something comes up).
In the meatime I've posted some pictures and details on my livejournal:
http://piccadillyo.livejournal.com/9363.html The norns in their starting points
http://piccadillyo.livejournal.com/9611.html The world and its machines; the dangers the norns will face and the help they may stumble upon
By the by, if an admin could help me out with the links I'd really appreciate it. Can't quite get to grips with the command.
On a random note, YAY MURRAY! 8D |
