Tag team wolfling run, Round 1.
Edited to include updates, and hopefully make things clearer!
90 norns, most of them adolescents between 23 and 36 minutes old, all taught full vocab. The goal of this run will be to see whose descendants survive the longest. Round 1 will end with the death of the last of the initial 90 norns.
Maximum 18 players, each of whom will receive 5 norns: 3 female and 2 male.
You can specify up to two breeds for two of the three females, and one breed for one of the two males, from the following list:
Astro, Bengal, Bondi, Bruin, Butterfly, ChiChi, Civet, Dale, Fallow, Golden Desert, Harlequin, Magma, Painted ChiChi, Sahara, Siamese, Sphinx, Wildkat, Zebra
(There's an exception to this. There are so many norns of a few breeds that it is possible to have all your 5 norns of one general breed - those are Bengal, Bruin, ChiChi, Civet, Fallow and Magma.)
Please be aware: There are unequal numbers of different breeds. There are now only one norn each of Astro (F), Sphinx (F) and Zebra (M).
The run will start with 2 females and 1 male from each group of 5, randomly scattered throughout the metarooms. (Yes, I know that's a lot of norns; it's a beast of a computer. I'll test before the run starts and if it still lags too much, I'll start with 1 male and 1 female per group.) Norns will be allowed to mix freely and do what they wish. Eggs will be hatched, and any offspring exported before they become fertile. As round 1 norns die, they will be replaced by norns from the same group, either male or female depending on how the balance is going in the world at the time.
For the purposes of round 2, a baby norn is registered with the "family" of the mother. Everyone starts with more females than males, so that seemed the fairest way.
If all your norns die without issue, or if only your male norns breed, you're "out".
If any of your female norns breed successfully, you're into round 2.
There'll also be a "winner of round 1" in the last norn standing.
If it's dragging on too long, I reserve the right to import grendels. ![[devil] [devil]](/images/smilies/devil.gif)
I'll clone on import, so you may have a copy of your adolescent norns if you wish. I'll upload the last round 1 norn to Creatures Caves.
I'm not set up for Livestream (and feel it might sap the life right out of me) but I'll update regularly, and may be able to post videos.
Start date: next weekend, if enough people sign up - I can run with fewer people, it'll just mean everyone gets more norns and the run will last longer.
World in use: Capillata on a computer with C3 installed.
Metarooms: Norn terrarium-in-DS, Desert-in-DS, Jungle-in-DS, Viridia, The Lost Cave
Agents: Edible snotrocks, butterfly norn agent, torii, advanced eggfinder, rainbow bamboo pots, Terra Nornia toypack, Protective Tub autonamer (plus others, possibly). |

I'll have Siamese, Civet, and Zebra norns- I guess both of my males will be zebras!
Females: Doe, So, La
Males: Ray, Fa
ETA: Yes, I left out one on purpose, because things might have gotten confusing otherwise. |

I wanna go!!
I'd like the Bondi female, named Nicole, a pair of Wildkats named Sally and Gino, and a couple Butterflies named Gwendolyn and Arthur, if that's okay. ![[nblush] [nblush]](/images/smilies/emot_blush.gif)

Meh, I might as well hop in.
I'll have a mix of Butterfly, Sahara, Harlequin, Siamese, and Magma. I'll let you pick the genders, and Autonamer names (or whatever names you can come up with) are fine.

I don't really understand this but I'll give it a go anyway. Can I have a Butterfly, Harlequin, Painted Chichi, Dale and Bondi? Don't care about the names and genders. |

Oh lordy! XD I didn't make this clear enough, sorry!
I didn't think about the names - they're already named, but I've got to re-import them to teach vocab, so that's ok, I'll rename them then.
When I said "choose 3 breeds" I meant of the 5. There's such a wide variation in the numbers of each breed - from 2 to 12 - I'll need a bit of leeway to balance the groups, but I'll try to sort out as many requested breeds as possible |

I don't mind what breeds the ones I selected get re-balanced to. do what you need

Sorry XD Everyone will get 5 norns, 3 females and 2 males, but there aren't equal numbers of all breeds, which should make things either interesting, difficult, or both. |

are my breeds okay for that?
two male wildkat
three desert norn females |

Two desert norns and a sphinx was the best I could do; there were only 2 wildkats to start with. I'm going to be topping up with other breeds; when the run starts, it'll require some juggling as there are both ordinary norns and CFE, and I want to try to reduce the number of slidey babies, though I don't know how much of a risk that is.
This is assuming they breed, of course. I suspect one of two things will happen - either they'll all eat alevator and slap each other to death, or it'll take a month to get a third of the way through the run and there'll be about 500 eggs lying around. I think the former is probably the lesser of two evils! |

I might have made it unnecessarily complicated. XD I think it'll make more sense once it starts, though. I've just got to test that the computer can handle 54 norns! |

Can I have the remaining sphinx norn, a male and a female fallow, and a male and a female magma? (or just female fallows and male magmas, because I don't think I read the fine print properly...)

@NimhsLab I'll see what I can do - it'll all work out in the end, one way or another. I'm viewing it as a big logic puzzle, and may swap things around once I've got a final participant list.
@mfb It's my husband's old work machine - it was a beast of a thing when it was new, and designed to run VMware, hence powerful.
@magpie-angel OK, now you've got me considering putting all 90 norns in the world at once. *insert evil laughter here*
@HavenHoney That's what I like - someone's who's easy to please!  |

Adding some diseases would probably cut down their numbers, but the amount of bacteria that would generate could cause problems. I don't think there is a per room maximum for bacteria, but there is a maximum per creature that's a genetic variable, so... |

Oi! This is not a "let's kill the little beggars off as quickly and painfully as possible" wolfling run - this is a "see how many generations we can get, and if we get interesting mutations and family trees" wolfling run! |

I think the "genetic variable" is a CAOS one, by the sound of it. |

Yep. Try opening the bacteria .cos file with notepad or an equivalent program- There's one for new bacteria attaching and one for bacteria reproducing. I think they can only reproduce while attached to creatures. |

If you have Chichi and Zebras left, I'll take a mix of each. Whatever works best. Thanks! Name one Stewart, though, because I've been watching Jimmy Stewart movies all day.
I want to create a C3 breed someday..

Bump - any more for any more? If OctoberFlash is going to be running hers on Friday, I'll start this Saturday morning (GMT+1). If no-one else signs up, it'll run with 13 players with 7 norns each - I'm sure I can find an extra one. |

I'll finally cave in and sign up! Likely I won't be around much until my air conditioning is fixed on Sunday, but I do love catching up on wolfling runs. Could I claim a mix of Zebras, Bengals, and Harlequins? Thanks!
