So I've been doing 3 things this week.
Going to work, being sick and working on centaurs att. Thanks to help from KittyTikara and Lilynorn volunteering as testers, the last of these three has been made a good deal easier on me.
But despite a mountain of improvement on that side, one problem remains...
the hills...
while the centaurs are able to walk much (MUCH) better then before, they still have a hard time with going up hill and down hill in some areas. The big slop in DS on the bottom left (under muko) seems impossible for them to climb down from, and i have no idea why... weirder even is that I've seen babies climbing up it, but if they go too high they get stuck and can't come down.
The hill problem was much more severe before, and i had to completely retrace my steps to realize what i did wrong. the culprit seemed to be the hip att, which i completely reworked once i figured out my mistake- they are doing much better now, but this specific area still causes problems...
So I started wondering... is it really that important for them to be able to handle all manners of inclines, hills and slops...?
Because I have no clue what the problem is at this point...

Expecting your centaurs to handle every slope is totally unrealistic, because all Norns have problems with hills--especially steep slopes like the one near the heat pan, the corridors below the Ettin Desert, or that long slope near the commedia vendor (which I think is the one you're talking about). I get regular Norns stuck there all the time, and have to pick them off by hand so they don't starve.
Breeds with non-standard legs (like centaurs, Gaius or the Sabertooth Norns) always have a worse time with slopes than regular breeds do, but their unusual legs only aggravate the problem, they don't cause it. The best solution would just be not to make any really steep inclines, but unfortunately the C3/DS developers went crazy with unusual room shapes and strange, sloping room corners.
My advice would be to not worry about it, and just trust the players to exercise some good judgment about where they house their centaurs (or hope that someone mocks up a few room patches to make C3/DS more creature-friendly). You've already done your best to make it less of an issue; the rest is the game's fault.

"The rest is the game's fault" it's the first time I've heard that. XD
My norns never usually go up that incline so i never noticed the problem was a pre-existing issue.. It's kind of a relief!
Thanks Ghosthande!
I'll still do my best with my breeds, but now I know not to worry about slops too much, since it's essentially part of the game.

Alot of my normal chichi norns can't go downhill sometimes right by the incubator pan. It's normal, Ghosthande's right. |
