I'm in the process of conducting a DS feral run, and noticed that one of the first-generation females I'd let loose (a Hardman named Athena) appeared to be guarding her egg from other Norns when she became pregnant. At one point, she was holding her egg in her arms...then as it got bigger, she sat down beside it and seemed to be waiting for it to hatch. She even followed her hatchling for the first couple of minutes after he was born...just like any protective animal mother would. I can't say that I've ever observed anything quite like that before -- either in DS or any of the other Creatures games. |

That's really awesome. Same for me, usually norn mothers just pop the egg out and then walk away.
Small bird who lives here sometimes, and wanders other times.

Once, my little sister was breeding Grendels in C3, and they had an egg. They just kept on hitting it until it hatched. And then they hit their own baby to death. ![[nblank] [nblank]](/images/smilies/emot_blank.gif)

It's only happened a couple of times for me, but it's so adorable when they walk around with their kids. I witnessed a mother once who carried her egg to the meso and stayed with her son until she dies of old age. He wasn't too interested in her, but she followed him everywhere he went.
I want to create a C3 breed someday..

In all my years of playing Creatures, I've only witnessed a mother protect her egg three or four times. It's sad, really.
I had this one Harlequin Norn named Shenanigans that used to do it. She was awesome.

I've never had a norn protect an egg, though they do sometimes pick them up and wander around with them, which is annoying.
The closest thing I've seen to this was in a test build of a world, many years ago - I imported some norns so that the object injector would be functional. I noticed a female norn who would pay particular attention to any babies in the vicinity - playing with them, and giving them food. She's still on a hard drive somewhere... I was never sure if it was her genetics, or because it was a test world with very few scripts in it. |

You should have somoene look at her dna. Might be a nurturing mutation, which would be awesome to breed on, and perhaps use as a base for a new breed or summink. |
