I've seen a few people comment that C4 won't have a splicer on launch - which makes sense, as there won't be grendels or ettins on launch, and you can just breed norns.
The thing is, I just can't see where the official people have said it on the C4 site - and the Joystick article explicitly mentions a 'slicing machine'.
The writer of the Joystick article says we will have access to a 'slicing machine' which we can buy genes from with 'genetic money' (which the article says can be got from flowers and critters). This doesn't entirely match what we've already heard - that 'genetic money' will be a third currency in the game along with coins which will be gotten from plants and animals, and golden eggs.
It might be splicing in the sense of splicing in particular genes, not splicing two creatures... :/
Could someone please point me in the direction of where the official sources have said that there will be no splicing machine?

I've noticed this talk too, and I cannot find an official source. The only thing I can think of is the most recent Q&A on the C4 website which talks about "combining machines" that will not be released. Though I took this to mean and refer to the C3 machines and blueprints, some people may have construed the term to mean the splicing machine. I wonder this because I first thought this was what they were talking about. I dunno.
I think there will be a splicing machine where you can simply combine two norns to create a new one, but you can use the genetic money to sway specific genes into appearing in your new creation.
I want to create a C3 breed someday..

Yeah, I took the 'combining machines' to mean blueprints, not splicing machines.

Its more like a genetics kit than a splicer. |
