According to this topic on the Creatures 4 forums, the box set containing the previous games will work on "recent editions of Mac OSX and Windows"!

Very awesome news! I've seen many mentions of the Creatures games for Macs being difficult to find, so this should certainly please many people! I was hoping they were going to have the Collector's Edition include something like this. Thanks for sharing it here, Malkin!

The Kutoka edition will only work on Macs that were made before 2006 or so, as it relies on a piece of technology that was depreciated at around that time. The Collectors' Edition will really give the old games a new lease of life!

Yay! I have a one-year-old MacBook Air, so hearing this makes me very happy.

My initial response is happiness.
However, I'm worried about a single problem:
Will Agents, Breeds and Metarooms made for the earlier games run on said new improved Mac-Creatures?
That being said, this may be a reason to buy C4 in my point of view. |

I wonder if they are just porting the game or if they are fixing bugs as well? *coughcreatures2cough* |

If that's Intel Macs and Snow Leopard, then that's perfect

I don't think they really have any incentive to fix bugs from the previous games. After all, they're focusing on creating an entirely new one now.

I've got a problem. When I go to the C4 site, it won't load. It just gives me a white page, and claims loading is finished.
Therefore, I've been unable to join and ask the following two questions. Would someone with an account on the C4 site mind posting them please?
1. Will your converted versions of the old Creatures games be able to use mods. As you can see if you look at basically every Creatures site mods are a really crucial piece of Creatures gaming. Please?
2. "Three" games? What about Docking Station. The reason I worry is loads of interesting mods only work with Docking Station, not Creatures Three undocked. You don't even need the server, there's a mod for that. Also, Chi-Chi Norns are really cute.
Thank you. |

The web site is currently down: Fishing Cactus mentioned on their Facebook page that they're working on finding someone to fix it. Hopefully it will be back up soon!

Oh.
Sorry, soon as it's back up I'll try joining unless anyone else minds posting my questions. |

You don't even need to ask the developers those questions. I can answer them right now:
1) Yes, most agents and metarooms and breeds will work just fine. There's no reason to assume the Mac versions of the game will suddenly use different file formats or anything. The only issues I can imagine are folder structure issues, which can be solved manually most of the time. The GOG version of the games had similar issues.
2) Three games means all three generations of the games. Docking Station is more like Creatures 3.2, and will most likely be bundled together with C3 as 'Creatures Exodus'.
A better question would be whether they'll be hosting their own Docking Station server. That could add some stability to the Warp.
