I don't know whether other people have noticed these particular quirks among their C3-DS Norns...but a number of mine have occasionally fallen into a couple of somewhat strange patterns that I don't remember seeing before.
The first one is what I call "Mutual Admiration Society", and it happens when there's a group of them together (although sometimes other norns that are not in the group, and may even be on other levels, will chime in). One Norn will say "(Itself) likes (other norn)" and then other norns will say the same thing about the subject, the norn which spoke, or another norn in the group. What's even more odd is that they will sometimes do it over and over, carrying on like this for thirty seconds or more at a time. I've also more than once seen a pair of norns that have "kiss-popped" say "(Itself) loves (other norn)" A couple of them have even said "(Itself) likes (hand's name)". I honesty don't remember seeing any of these things before (although it seems like a good sign, since it suggests that they're happy).
The other one is what I call the "Albian Honeymoon", and it happens when a pair of norns "kiss-pop" multiple times in quick succession. Again, this can carry on for thirty seconds or more at a time. I would think the poor things must be worn out at the end of a marathon session like that!
Also, anyone ever notice female C3-DS norns experiencing multiple pregnancies?? A couple of mine have become pregnant with more than one egg at a time -- no joke! -- and simply lay each one at a different time. To the best of my knowledge, nothing bad has happened with the hatchlings from multiple pregnancies, but I'm going to keep an eye on it to see if there are any drawbacks to this. |

Ohh, I know what you're talking about!
It's something that can drive some Creature keepers batty when there's a whole lot of Norns in one room chanting it over and over. (i.e. deafening, never ending racket) I find it cute but if they won't stop, sometimes it's a good idea to seperate the instigators (those who keep saying the phrase that gets everyone else responding), or seperate the group until they've stopped. Then they can safely be put back in together.
Another thing I find fun to do is asking everyone to 'express' and watch the reactions. Hehehe. Particularly effective on a large group.
Incidentally, I love it when they say they love each other (or me!) and often try to get them to say it.
Multiple pregnancies are a chance sort of thing. Having twins, triplets and so on is always exciting!
I'm back after 11 years. Holy dooley! |

Multiple pregnancies are dictated randomly by the game - in fact there's a CAOS cheat code to change the probability of them. I know of some people who've made every single pregnancy a multiple one.
The mating flurry is because norns have no conception of 'too much of a good thing'. They feel that if it's fun to mate once, mating a dozen times in a row must be even more fun. It's the same reasoning that gets them pushing elevator buttons nonstop.
By the way, I don't care if anyone steals my ideas for their own work, as long as you don't try to stop me from making my own stuff. Many ideas I mention are things I don't have the time or skill to actually do. |

The "Mutual Admiration Society" thing is a problem with how Norns are scripted, I believe... very common and very annoying. If I know I'm going to have a lot of Norns in the same place, I usually neglect to name them (or teach them to speak... or both) because if they can't communicate properly with each other, they won't do it.

I once had a pair of Norns who were mates, but their relationship was quite violent. Once I caught the female slapping the male, whilst the male just stood there, saying [Male Norn's Name] love [Female Norn's Name]. It actually made me laugh! ![[nlaugh] [nlaugh]](/images/smilies/emot_laugh.gif)
I've also had Norns suggesting to other Norns that eating manky is a good way to stop hunger. |

Norns that are into S & M?!?!? Now that's bizarre! Seriously...who knew???
Then again, why should I be surprised? I'm currently the owner of a female Norn whom a psychologist would probably diagnose as having Generalized Anxiety Disorder...she's scared all the time, and nothing I've tried so far seems to calm her down. (That being said, I haven't tried using Calm Balm on her...I haven't installed the Hardman Norns, because I'm concerned that they might be too aggressive.) I'm also not certain that Calm Balm would do any good...her "cousin" (since I gather that all Norns of the same species are effectively siblings) was also a ChiChi/Fire Norn cross and always complained about being hot and nothing could cure him even though he was happy/healthy in most other respects and lived to a ripe old age. |
