As most of you should know, E3 has been going on for a while now and I was wondering if anyone has seen or heard anything from Fishing Cactus about Creatures 4?

I haven't heard anything directly about E3, but Fishing Cactus mentioned on their Twitter feed "Still heavily working on the most advanced #AI, #DNA, #genetics game of all time #Creatures #Creatures4 and it will be Free to Play!". Perhaps they're planning on releasing it later this month or even this year? |

Bleaugh. E3's turning out to be a bust so far. None of the games I'm interested in have been mentioned in any significant capacity.
I was hoping BigBen would at least update their web site with new teaser images, but no dice.
You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there.

I just want them to release something, like a new trailer, more screenshots, or even better, the release date. It was supossed to come out this month, but they arent giving very many details on it. I know that its important to be patient and wait, but its very hard to lol.

I think no news is good news; they're busy working hard on it and taking their time to produce something good! I'd rather they did that.
I'm sure this must mean that the next big update will be worth the wait.

I know staying positive is important, but on a game so heavily reliant on community support they need to throw us a bone here.
The last actual update with info was in March...and that was only concept art of the Master Shee. Before that it was November!
For a game that is meant to be out this month, it is hard not to be concerned at the lack of info. |

It's just hard for me to feel impatient or negative about Fishing's Cactus's lack of news.
I don't know many developers, like Andreadst, who actually take the time to get to know the community they're producing a game for, listen to their opinions or answer their questions. I mean, this makes it obvious to me that they want to do right by us. Also, they're a small company. They probably don't have enough time to churn out lots of news, while at the same time work hard on Creatures 4.
I know I probably won't change any opinions, and I don't want to, but this is just how I feel about it. |

I prefer silence over the usual hype that accompanies most other games close to release.
And if the game is almost done, they won't have much 'new' stuff to show us, won't they? They took a lot of Community input during their developing process. With the game almost finished most of the features are already set in stone so more input wouldn't be very helpful. Not to mention that they're probably only allowed to release what Bigben tells them to release in terms of trailers/screenshots and similar.
As for E3, that's on an entirely different continent so getting FC there to showcase C4 might be more expensive then desirable.
I understand the frustration, though! Information is addictive (true science fact!) and with the internet, getting new information has never been so quick and easy. Just think of how many times you check your favourite news feeds, facebook, twitter, webcomic, forum or even just your email, hoping for a new little tidbit to digest.
Be patient, be strong, you'll get your C4 eventually!
Just try to remain positive and avoid any negative feedback loops, they do more harm than good. Don't be whiny, be, erm, shiny!

Well E3 is over and there hasent been anything new on Creatures 4, While it is dissapointing, I guess it is just a sign that they are working hard. I just wanted something like a release date or something.

Sorry for being a bit negative but I really hope they won't give up on the game. I don't care about waiting till Christmas, as long as they take their time and create a fun, playable game. At least if its released around Christmas time people will be more likely to buy it. |

I'm pretty sure most companies' PR doesn't include hanging out with the fans on fan-forums. They are a small companies and small companies tend to have less employees, and judging by their blog they are currently looking for someone to take the PR position. They're probably just a bit short-staffed in that department ATM.
As stated on their blog, "if it is internal, it is normal if you don’t see a thing"--this is extremely common in the programming world. Naturally players and other folks expect to get news now-now-now but for developers that often just isn't feasible, especially if there's a time crunch. The fact that there wasn't any sign of them at E3 is very odd, but with E3 over and done and the time situation probably easing up after it, I'm guessing we'll probably see something from them within the next week or two.

I don't think you quite realize that Fishing Cactus cannot, and I repeat, cannot announce news without proper permission from Big Ben?
Everything they say about the game, is governed by Big Ben, which is why they haven't said anything as of late. Big Ben hasn't given the okay to tell us more.
Also, I would gladly accept a delay, if it meant the game is in a far superior state than if it had released earlier. Quality should always come first. If they need to push back the release date to make sure we get a quality product, then yes, I will more than welcome it. |

Regarding E3 news, you have to understand that most gaming news sites would rather get the juicy stuff from E3 shown first. I'm sure that whatever Big Ben did at E3, will be told to us within the coming days.
It's also possible that Big Ben has an embargo set on their stuff so again, waiting is the name of the game. Just be patient. It's a virtue after all .
Also, several companies go this way as well. Let us take the Konami company for example. A recent Silent Hill game was announced to be delayed as it was supposed to release. I hate to sound like a broken record but again, we must simply wait. |

bigben was on the E3 for their hardware this time not for news about games so that's why we didn't get any creatures 4 news as for the delay we will see just stay positive

Oh, I apologize, I didn't realize that Big Ben and such should be answering to our every whim :/
I apologize for sounding rude but, that is a very self-entitled thing to say. As many people in other communities with mods and other such things like to say, it will be released when it's done.
The same applies here. Would you rather an incomplete product be released now, with who knows how many bugs and issues? Or a finished product with only minor issues? I dare say the second is the best option, naturally.
I should mention that the first has happened many times, and what do the developers and publishers get for it? Grief, tons and tons of grief. I imagine that with a title like C4, Fishing Cactus and Big Ben want to get it right. As much as I'd hate to say it, Creatures is not a million dollar earning series so, yes, for FC and Big Ben, I imagine every dollar is important. |

Also, Creatures 4 is free to play. Whereas with a 'bought' game, like C2, people were perhaps more willing to stick around a bit more and try again when CL patched the bugs, because, darnit, they spent that $29.99 and they are going to get some FUN out of this game... they go, oh well, crap game, I'll try something different. And then they go and download something different, and they may be lost forever.
So, from Fishing Cactus's perspective, it just makes sense for them to make sure that that first release WORKS. The always-online part will make it easy for them to add patches for everyone and so on, but if they lose someone before then... they lose their potential revenue. For us, Creatures 4 is a game - for Fishing Cactus, it's part of their livelihood, and part of their reputation.

I do know that the special edition collectors box is for pre-order on some retailers sites. That release date sounds promisiing, and if it dosent get delayed, then Fishing Cactus should say something in the coming weeks. However, we cant be for sure until they DO say something.
Also, I hope the collectors edition is made avaliable in America and I hope its not too expensive.

For what it's worth, according to the e3 Insider website's description of Big Ben Interactive, C4 is still 'due June 2012'.Bigben Interactive

Bigben Interactive is also the publisher of successful titles such as CREATURES 4 (due June 2012) and the My Body Coach series, and distributor of Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends.
