Digital DNA?

So the main thing that attracted me to creatures in the first place was not only the ecology but mainly the "digital dna" system that was in place along with the brain/ thought process and biochemistry. The creatures could somwhat evolve over the generations depending on certain stress factors and conditions, with different traits popping up all the time. Now I'm curious because I havent seen anything on it but.. will the devs imlement this feature into creatures 4? They should and probably will, but still I'd like some conformation. Also will they be expanding it as well as the anatomy of the creatures? That would be awesome. I want to breed and evolve them as much as possible. Physical as well as mental factors should effect how they change and evolve. Perhaps they will even become more intelligent and their bodies will adapt to the evironment better and in more expansive ways. After all is that not the entire point of this project to begin wiht?

I once tried to selective breed a fighting norn.. I would frequently pit them up against grendels and make them fight to the death. the ones that live through several matches would get to breed and their offsrping would follow in the same path. Now I never got the ultimate powerhouse I was aiming for, I dont believe the program goes so far as that but!.. I did produce one mean norn that would wonder off and kill all grendels that it came across. He was a true warrior. Anyway I'd love to see areas such as the behavioral patterns and anatomy expended as well as the digital dna. I also seen a post on the ecology and I fully agree with you guys.

It’s still all here, rest assured. We’re recoding some of the tools for ourselves. We’re certainly not dumbing this down, but we’re still thinking about what the players will be able to do with all this from inside the game and how to keep it reasonably simple to grasp (those of you that messed with Norn genetics know it can be pretty daunting right?).

I just hope they won't dumb it down at all. Because the way it was, was complicated and sometimes hard to grasp, but only if you got into the complicated stuff. For the average player, it was easy enough. It depended on how complexly you wanted to play. And having the harder stuff to mess with is important to many.

I'd prefer advanced genetics and coding for those who want it.

Thanks (I reregistered as Bifrost. I somehow thought the name was taken, and registered as Indigo instead, only to find out that Bifrost was indeed available).

And here's a vote for advanced genetics!
