Wikia announced some days ago that they'll make a new system and look. I saw this notice on my user page. My impression is that they somewhat replaced the official MediaWiki engine and that they made a new (rubbish) system to work with. Wikis just become part of the Wikia - rather than being hosted by it, with Wika's own stuff and ads scattered all over the place with very little customization. So is this the final strike for the community to move to a better Wiki-hoster? It may sound a bit negative, but I think Wikia is becoming a bit too commercial.  Geek Ettin's Lab (New!) It certainly provides more ammo. However I think that if they handle it right, by making it optional then it'll redeem its self.....a little. (This is totally unrelated but...Is there a standard format for the articles on the Creatures Wiki?) Lost Content, help find it a home! |

At first, I thought this was about the Monaco theme, and that someone just noticed it. Then I actually looked at the link...and I don't like that at all. It would be nice if Wikia just picked a layout and stuck with it, rather than randomly changing their looks around every 6 months or so. As somebody on that page said, "If it isn't broke, don't fix it." Sound advice if I ever heard it, especially where this is concerned. Risen Angel's Creatures Blog |

...Well, at least I haven't put too much work into my personal wiki yet.  I'm still not entirely clear on the details of this change, though. If this goes through, does that mean we'd have to reformat all of the pages on the Creatures Wiki to fit it? You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there. -- Jim Adkins |

No, I meant the future interface shown here. The new Wikipedia (not Wikia) style they have now is just a refresh to the look without any changes how it works. @ Officer-1BDI: I wonder, it can be a whole new wiki system. Probably they'll find a way to convert the pages. But it's likely to me that we must customize it again from the starting point. Geek Ettin's Lab (New!) Bill Gates: "Be nice to nerds.
