There is going something wrong on the CLabs website, the header seems to be gone with some other small issues. Also they seem to be moved to an other host according to the new FavIcon and the personalized error pages, and the forum gives a 404 instead of an board notice.
I'm wondering what's going on.

Everything related to Gameware seems to be messed up in some way... The ironic thing is that I was planning on saving some of the articles as text file back-ups on my computer this week. Hopefully things get restored soon, since there was a wealth of knowledge at Creature Labs.

The CDN doesn't work anymore:
http://www.gamewaredevelopment.com/cdn/
Edit: The address with .co.uk still works but there are still major problems.

I actually loaded the whole CDN into a pdf file a while back. It does seem like they're moving servers, so we'll see what happens. It'll probably come back. |

They're claiming to have created Creatures! Well, they DO own it, but create it they did not.

I think they are talking about their team members, which did indeed take part in the creation of Creatures. |

As Moe said, Gameware is made up of ex Creature Labs staff, so they were involved in it

I paid the Creatures Labs page a visit a few days a go, and it is basically empty. None of the links at the top work, and all of the side links are missing. I hope it comes back soon |

Oh no, even the official downloads are gone. (all the ex-Mall breeds)

Shoot. I can imagine a lot more than that was on the site and is no longer available.
Would it be prudent to start putting together a GW-independent backup so this stuff is still available for people to download? I still have the original .exe files for the ex-mall breeds.

I would avoid putting up the mall breeds for now. If you want to, contact GE and ask.
People might have this idea that GE is evil/doesn't care anymore/whatever, but I know for a fact that this is crap.
They will make them free eventually, it's just a matter of when.

We're not talking about the mall breeds, we're talking about the ex mall breeds, the Astro Norns, Magma Norns, et cetera, that were already available free up until the entire GW site went down.
I would never upload the mall breeds.

The ex-Mall breeds are those like the fallow norns, harlequins, etc. which were released for free download by Lisa in 2008, which were available on the official Clabs downloads site.

Ah, I'm sorry, my bad!
I was a bit weirded out by your post originally, Ghosthande, because that's what I thought as well. But I figured it was best to make the post, just in case.

I figured that was all.
I'd still like to know where to put them, by the way. I would host them at BBW if it was my domain, but it belongs to my mother. I'm a bit leery of putting copyrighted content on her domain, free or not.

I guess it won't be necessary then, at least not right now. All the same, I think I'm going to go over there and back stuff up. <.<;

It seems that they're using Shared Hosting from 1&1 in Germany.
That's why the website doesn't work well - because they can't set the configuration of the web server, so the website must be remade to be compatible with the environment set by their new host.

Not to panic. I've been in contact with Mark Stamps (Sparky) and indeed the servers have been moved round. Mark was unaware that some things were broken, and, though aware of others, he has been too busy with other business to get 'round to the repair. He has only recently fixed the pages for the co.uk addresses and if you use http://www.gamewaredevelopment.co.uk all pages should work properly. I'm currently helping him track down errors on both sites, so if you notice something not working please send me a message.
He is also currently preparing to fix a problem with the DS server that causes your worlds to be registered with an incorrect date. This is currently causing the World History to be displayed incorrectly. He's busy with meetings for several new contract possibilities, and after that's finished he'll try to get to the server on his own time. Please have patience with him, he's a very busy man. He's trying his best to fix things for us on his own time, (i.e. he's not getting paid for his time) and he considers it a point of honor to make sure that his ettin crew flib dis and dat to ensure the DS server still runs properly for fans of the community.

P.S. As for the old forums, well... unfortunately that database went the way of the dodo. You're not like to see them again.

Great to hear about this! It's a shame about the forums, but I'm happy that someone is personally going to help out. Even if it's a bit of a wait, it's a big comfort knowing that something will end up getting done. Thanks for sharing!
