Ok, I think I can safely say we'd all be pretty chuffed if the Creatures series were up and running again. To do that though, Gameware would have to have the opportunity to make money off it, right?
So is it a complete brainfart to suggest that if the series were used as a foundation for a series of fantasy/sci-fi books, it will garner some interest?
I mean, if you think about it:
1) The games are already there (as opposed to say, Harry Potter where the games had to be developed afterwards) (2) the online community is already there, and (3) you have a well-established wikiverse on the whole series, thus immersing a reader further into the mythology.
We would just need them to sink some money into proper marketing of the book(s).
And, here's the selfish part, I'd love to do something like that, or at least have a part in creating it
What do you think? |

I think that would be fabulous, but from what I've heard, Gameware has kind of abandoned Creatures all together. But if they still had interest in the series, I'd love to read books, and books with internet tie in seem to be very popular right now.

Yeah it's a real pity, because Creatures would be a fantastic basis for a series of fictional books, I think, being that fantasy/sci fi are two popular genres. There's so much that could be written about. |

OMG! I have tons of fanfic at home I wrote, if I can e-mail them I could help.
You, I think have finely found an idea to fix the CC. I for one, would LOVE a book that had anything to do with creatures. |

Well I think at this stage we'd just have to lay low and see what happens. It's probably not going to lead to anything, so let's not get too excited. |

They mailed you back? apparently 3kul has been waiting for a reply for a long time now. Funny enough i actually imaginedt a fanfic so big it was considered a book. Maybe us fans could write a book rp style.

Yeah, bear in mind that deadhumourist has only just emailed the company. We'll see what happens first, if anything. |

Me too but if this thing works we are looking at a whole bunch of newbies.

I agree with sam999. Its not necessarily fun to be established when the flux of newbies occurs, but we've all be a newbie at some point. And with such a small community, more members would be a blessing!

So, is this fanfic the turned one you posted before? (It's quite good by the way) or something new? |

This community seems pretty intelligent to me, newbie or not, so I think we'd fare well.

If you were going to create a series of books I guess the first place to start would be to write a sample, pilor or overview to show what it would be like

Well, this is an intriguing idea. I'm glad you got a response from GW so soon, deadhumourist.
Assuming this exchange of e-mails actually evolves into a deal/contract/permission/whathaveyou, who would then write the book(s)? Is the idea that this would be a community project, or were you asking GW if they would write something?
You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there.

I outlined the plan and the story (a preliminary one at least) and he hasn't mailed back. The proposal was based on the story I wrote, so if its picked up I'd like to write it. With that being said, it would rely on input from the community, so in a sense it would involve everyone in the community. |

Ah, cool. I wish you luck, then.
