Hi everyone! I am sure you all noticed the large amount of wolfing and feral runs lately and I suggested to Rascii that a seperate forum could be put up for them! He replied saying that if people think its a good idea he will make one
EDIT:I'll make a poll!

I think that it's a great idea. It would be really handy to have all the Feral and Wolfling runs in one place, rather than scattered throughout the forum.
Also, I think it would inspire more people to create them more often as there is less likely a chance of them being missed amongst all the other thread topics. I am planning to host a Wolfling run at some point this year. I think it would be a lot of fun.

I'm not sure forum WRs are held often enough to have their own forum section - the somewhat-analogous Survivor section was traditionally only open for the period of Survivor.

I agree this would be a good idea, even if they don't happen very often it would make it alot easier to find them when it does happen.

I don't know, the wolfling runs seem to have become very popular very suddenly, so it might not last long enough to need an entire new forum.
Most of the forums on CC.com only get 1 or 2 new topics each day on average, so that gives a wolfling run almost an entire week on the front page, much longer if it gets updated properly. And most runs don't last a week either.

I honestly think all the Wolfling Runs are just the 'in' fad at the moment - I'm sure having a dedicated forum will encourage people to host more runs at first, but will the fad last when we have a whole forum for their purpose? I think with a whole forum the novelty may eventually wear thin...
Unless, what if the forum was multi-purpose? A place to post forum runs that any users can take part in, and also a place for people to write and update about the progress of their own personal runs - sort of like a blog. That might be interesting for others to read and follow too. A seperate forum might have more longetivity then. |

What happens when theres no wolfing runs on? And no one wants to start a new one because of the effort involved? We'd be left with a dead forum, which no one really wants to see.
Personally, I'd just suggest a Stickied topic in the "News" or "General" forums, where people can post thier runs, and keep it updated from there.
Lauras idea could possibly work as well.

Mmm lots of mixed opinions there Well I guess the possibility of a dead forum is high but the only reason I thought it was a good idea is because it is sometimes hard to find them all! I guess we could have a sub-forum? At the moment 5 voted yes in the poll while 3 voted no

Maybe, if it's just the reason that it's hard to find them all, Jacob's idea of having a Wolfling Run sticky topic would be a good plan? |

Would that mean that all wolfing runs would be on one topic? If they are all grouped together won't that be confusing

a topic with links to forum runs is what (I think) he means.

well, after doing just one post on laura's wolfling run (awesome!) i can attest that it takes an awful lot of effort, and i think that it's probably just a fad that will disappear soon.
a subforum could be cool, or a stickied thread.
i'm sorta conflicted though, because i do feel like a dedicated section would encourage more people to post their wolfling runs. i just dunno how long that effect would last.

Wow...there was so much more to consider than I realised. ^///^
I was just thinking it would be nice to have all the Wolfling runs, Feral Runs (and blogs about people's personal runs etc, like Laura suggested) in one place. That way it would be easy to find them and read them whenever. Like the writings in the Writings forum. Except, maybe not a whole forum is needed. Just some way to gather them all in one spot...like that 'sticky' thing that agentrok said.

Perhaps use tags in the topic to indicate a wolfling run thread. Like this: [WR] AquaShee's Run
This way, people can just do a quick search on [WR] in the topic title and see all Wolfling run topics in a jiffy.

Yes thats a good idea! Judging by the polls and what people are saying here the wolfling run sticky seems like the best idea. So who will make the sticky thread?

I like AquaShee's idea. Tags or some kind of ascii symbol would work well, as you could tell at a glance which threads are wolfing runs.
Too bad this forum doesn't have icons that you can put next to the topic title, there could be a "wolfing run symbol" used specifically for runs.

A sticky thread won't work. Unless it is a thread with links to real wolfling run threads.
Can you imagine how long each post would be, and how confusing entering a run would be if all runs were in the same thread?

Yeah, I think Jacob and Scoota94 meant that the sticky thread would be a list with links - one that can be edited and updated accordingly. |

Maybe just sticking a sort of symbol in front of them would be easier. Or typing WR or FR in front of them to signify either a Wolfling Run or a Feral Run. It could make them easy to find then.
