Companies have to make money to survive. This sadly means they sometimes have to drop projects they are working on sometimes for good.
Chances of a new creatures game are small, but Creatures itself doesn't have to come back if it never leaves, does it?
If the community stays alive, we'll always have Creatures to play with.
Who knows, similar games might appear eventually!

The Creatures Community is maybe going to make an open-source game sometime, which is very similar to Creatures itself.

The best thing will probably be openc2e: openc2e on Creatures Wiki
It's going to be a long time before the engine is built up to the level where you can just install Creatures 1/2/3's content and play it, but once it's there, anyone can improve on it, anyone can make an entirely new game on top of it, and all the best features can be combined. So, that's probably going to be the future, if anything, beyond what we have.
I'm just excited to be able to play again, I've really been waiting for a digital distribution solution. :3

I've never trusted that "Creatures 4" website. I reckon that it should be taken down. It is a hoax website after all. |

It's not a "hoax website", it's just a community member keeping the domain occupied so we don't get dumb ad sites and the like grabbing it up. In fact it says right on the page that it isn't affiliated with GW, for those who bother to look.

@op: I'd like to see an MMO that connected with Creatures or a game based on the Creatures engine. Kinda like Pokemon or DWM but without fighting (necessarily [obviously they could also fight, just as they can fight in Creatures]). Maybe you could create a server and multiple people could access the world. Or have a "guild" server, or something like that.

Agreed, if I ever get a job one day it would be something to do with game design, and work on Creatures 4 (In 3D of course) maybe! |

AquaShee: If it was marketed properly, then I've no doubt it'd be a massive success. Take a look at Viva Pinata, for example.
Unfortunately, most companies are unwilling to have a go. |

Viva Piñata had a lot more money to throw at marketing than Creatures has.
It's all about money. If a new Creatures game won't be able to make a decent profit, a company will not invest in it. Most companies have a good eye for what will be profitable and what won't be. There's always a few companies that like taking risks, but they'll only do this with new, unique games. And Creatures is already at its 3rd iteration.
I love the games, and I'd really like to see another one, but I really doubt the current type of gameplay would appeal enough to the gaming crowd to make a profit.
Maybe as an iPhone app or something.
