Jenny, a cute, fluffy creature called a Norn, was watching her little daughter called Kylie roll around on the floor, playing with a toy ball. Kylie looked almost just like her father, white with black spots, except for her orange striped tail and curly platinum hair. There was also something that came from neither parent, a mutation in Kylie. She had a slightly green tint.

They were the only species in their world. Jenny had grown up with tales from her grandmother of ugly, evil, deadly green reptiles called grendels and curious, dumb yellow apes called ettins, but she had always thought they were simply myth and didn?t tell them to Kylie. Little beknownst to Jenny, such creatures had existed, but were wiped out by a powerful, flying human hand.

Suddenly, Kylie tumbled into the wall. The little norn girl burst into tears. Her mother passed her a tasty, nutritious bramboo-berry to calm her down. Kylie stopped crying and fell asleep. Jenny heard a noise that meant greeting and turned towards the source. It was Kylie?s father, Jack. He warned her to retreat from the portal.

The portal had been dormant for years. It glows blue when active, but never in living history had it glowed. But, yet, now it glowed brightly and the norns stared at it, wondering what was happening. The smarter norns retreated, fleeing with their families to the outer, remote recesses of the ship. The even smarter ones stocked up on food and armed themselves with sludge-guns. Kylie?s father was one of those clever norns.

Jenny harnessed Kylie to her back with vines and carried as much food as she could. Jack grabbed a sludge-gun and readied it to shoot. They hid in the airlock, both parents taking turns to stand guard with the sludge-gun. The other parent would look after Kylie. The air was very tense. Then, a teenaged norn named Kate joined them. She brought much-needed food supplies and foraged for food for them. In return they protected her.

At the portal, the blue glow turned into a red flame as a large, blue female reptile called Anaisa stepped through. Then, 25 other brightly colored creatures stepped through. Some were norns, some were ettins and some were grendels. The shocked norns looked on at the creatures. They were the mythical creatures they no longer believed existed! With a malignant glare, Anaisa spoke to the creatures, ?So what do we ?ave here, Coupla nornies? They don?t look so tough. Take ?em out, ma buds. Don?t leave no survivors neither.? With that, the creatures massacred the curious norns standing by the portal.

A wounded Kate ran as fast as she could to Jenny?s family. They were horrified at Kate?s wounds and hid behind the sludge guns. Jack guarded the airlock while Jenny tended to Kate. When her wounds had been dressed, Kate joined Jack with the guns, saying she?d rather help him kill those invaders than die idly. Jenny tried to get Kylie to sleep and devised a plan. Should the sludge-gun be overrun, she would press the airlock button, shooting the invaders into deep space.

Then, the invaders arrived. The sludge-gun held them back, but failed to do much damage otherwise. The sludge gunners were almost over-run when Jenny began to lose hope Apparently, Kate had lost hope too. She ran into the crowd under their legs. She wounded a few, but was mortally wounded before she could kill any. She tossed the gun to Jenny with her last burst of energy and died as she was struck on the head by a bulky grendel. Jenny had had enough. She was going to follow through with her plan and open the airlock

Suddenly, the flying human hand appeared. Seeing the desperate family, she knew what to do. A blue light appeared around them and one by one, they disappeared. They weren?t dead, only in suspended animation in another dimension where no harm could come to them. Then, the flying hand spoke to the hordes, hoping to rid the world, her world, of that pestilence.

?You?re a pretty powerful group of creatures, you know. But I want to know who?s the most powerful so I can hold them as my champion.?
?That?d be me, you odd floatin? appendage and don?t you forget it,? Said the large blue grendel called Anaisa. She leapt at the hand and hit it with all of her might, but just got shaken off.
?For that, you can?t be my champion. Now, let the games begin.?
With that, the invaders started attacking each other.
The End

This was the story from my disastrous science fair. It's kind of sad that nobody actually READ it that day except for my form teacher.

Cool story :D It reads like you witnessed a real event in the world and then embellished the creatures by anthropomorphising them. :D

That was really good. I agree with Malkin as I don't think I could say it any better.:)

I'm tired. ;___;

The idea was writing an interesting story, while teaching people who know nothing about creatures (well, about creatures) and introducing a competition that I was having for the game. The invaders were actually the student's custom-made norns, ettins and grendels.

Ohhh, that's smart :D I like how you've mentioned how heredity works in the Creatures games :D How did the competition go?

It was a while back.

The competition itself was fine, but the science fair it was for was a mess. The girl I was with decided that the creatures competition wasn't enough and got some iodine and crackers for an experiment. Then, she decided that the laptop was useless and it blocked her improvised, last minute experiment's way. Then, she gave out some of my expensive prize candy for free, with the excuse of, "They were staring at it."

I was pretty mad at her then, but it gets worse. She decided that she wanted to get a few of her friends out of class and started a new group. I was furious. The teacher put us back together, her friends who HADN'T even signed up or shown interest until it got them out of class stayed, even though there was only 3 people per group.

The coup de grace, as the prizes were being handed out, she told me that if we won, I wouldn't get a cent of it (No, her friends who wanted to get out of the class would get it, along with her). I lost my temper, grabbed her shoulders (Not even really squeezing) and told her that I WAS going to get some of the prize money. She completely ignored me.

When we didn't win, she said, Ït's better this way," Yeah, says the girl who barely even did anything. You know, I'm surprised I showed so much self-control. If the whole school weren't watching along with the headmaster, I don't doubt I would have hit her. We're not on speaking terms anymore.

The competition though, went very smoothly, with far more than 25 people signing up. I added more entrants as other entrants died.

Wow, that sounds like it was a very hairy science fair! D: Group work can be harrowing if you don't know the person very well. Glad the competition did well. :)

I kinda skimmed through it, but it's very good. Intricate, and has a great origin (I admire how you made a science project using the behaviors of classmates.).

I've always forgotten the strategy of pitting your enemies against one another, so, I think I'll use it against my enemies more often.
