Banned members are basically non-existant in my eyes, Malkin.
I think the best place could be both the My Caves main page and the forum index. I'll be sure to implement it with the revamp. Thanks for the suggestion.

Just like forum topics, COBs/agents, metarooms and adoptions can be moved to different categories, would it be at all possible to allow images to be moved too, please?
Often images are accidentally posted to the wrong gallery (e.g. screenshots to the Fan Art gallery, fan art to the Graphics gallery) and it would save us/me having to reject them, and members having to re-submit. |

Ideally I think that would be a good idea. However, the images themselves are uploaded to different subdirectories on the server, and I don't really know how to move them via PHP scripting. I'll look into it though.

I'm not surprised, handling images with PHP is tricky business. I've been too chicken to try.
Since they have date/uploader/description information already being stored somewhere, would it be easier to use some sort of tag or label to indicate what kind of image it is? Or is there a better reason for having them in separate folders?

I'm thinking about merging the polls section with the forum. I think being able to discuss the polls would make them more useful.
So my question is: Do you guys think that the polls should just be able to be included with a topic in any of the forums, or should there be a dedicated "Polls Forum"?

I think that it'd be a good idea to allow polls in all forums. That way, the Creatures polls will stay in the Creatures sections and the random polls will stay in the Strangeo section.
Merging the polls with the forums is a very good idea, by the way. Some polls would work better with discussion, methinks.

I agree with the latter, for the same reasons as Grendel Man. I've seen the same idea implemented in other forums and it works well. |

Oh yes, discussion of polls would be wonderful! While I also think polls should be allowed in all forums, for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on, I also like the idea of a section dedicated to polls.
I don't know why, but it may have something to do with organization and the ability to easily find polls, rather than a generic search that you hope finds the topic and poll you're looking for. |

That's probably it. But at the same time I like the idea of polls in forum topics elsewhere because it's just nice to be able to add a poll to, say, a development topic, to get feedback on features and things. I can see it working out well.
It might be neat if it were possible to allow polls everywhere, but have one forum section that "collects" and displays all topics containing a poll. Like a filter, almost. So it's not a dedicated section, just an automatically gathered, grouped, and displayed link to topics in other sections that contain a poll. |

Yeah, it has its perks having polls in forum topics; I've found it's helpful to see the ongoing poll results as you're discussing them. I also like your idea of a forum section that collects and acts like a filter. I think we'll see more discussions prompted if the polls become an all round forum-based feature.
Edit: I shouldn't join in with a discussion at 3 AM. Got to what I meant eventually! |

Regarding the images section, it's a little confusing that when you view an image with the option to comment, you can't see the associated description/caption for the image. You can only see it from the gallery list--so if you view the specific image the comment box appears instead of the description. It gets a little weird if someone goes to view an image when it's linked on the homepage, for instance, because then they don't see the text at all.

When I regisitered on the site it cut off my password and didn't tell me. I was able to send it to my email. Not very annoying but it's a good idea to have something to show you the password limit. |

I like the idea of some generic icons for users who aren't familiar with creating their own images. I'll create a few, and put up Ghosthande's as well.
Moe wrote: Hey Rascii: Favicon What do you mean by "Favicon", Moe? I just googled the site and found it. How does it work? Do you think I should create something similar for this website, or do you think I should just provide a link to that website on the icon uploading page?

A favicon is one of those little graphics that show up next to the "http://creaturescaves.com" when you look in that bar, and it also shows up in your bookmarks, when you've got Creatures Caves bookmarked. I agree with Moe, it'd be a cute way of further customising Creatures Caves.

There are some free sites that let you make them online, too. I think the one at degraeve.com is the one I used last time I needed one.

Ooooh. Cool. I just briefly glanced at favicon.cc, and I thought it was a way to make avatars for forum users. I guess that topic was just in my head at the moment.
I like to think that I'm pretty good at creating images for websites, but when it comes to tiny images like that, I usually have a hard time deciding what to put on it. ><

It could be... a stylised "CC", in the blue shade of the forums... or it could be a norn head...? There are a lot of options, but I'm sure you'll pick something fun.

I'm loving the new Favicon. I think it's a perfect choice; for me a Bengal Norn always brings to mind Creatures Caves.

I tried making a new bookmark for CC.com, but that didn't make the favicon show up. Visiting the front page using my old bookmark (http://www.creaturescaves.com/) made the favicon show up briefly, but it vanished again as soon as I started browsing on http://creaturescaves.com/... etc.

What about clearing your cache? Google tells me it'll load eventually afterwards. Also, Safari is prone to strange behaviour; sometimes I find that Favicons just don't show up, while other times they do. |

I've tried clearing my cache... the only thing that seems to make the difference is whether the URL has www in it or not. Glad to know it could just be a Safari problem.

Technically I'm supposed to put some code in every page that should show the favicon, which I did for the revamp, but not for the "old" website.
So perhaps once the revamp opens the favicon will work more properly for you. Also, the favicon for the revamp will be different because the bengal face feels soo old cc.com.
